I'm a season ticket holder for the Bulls and I attend the games to watch basketball. I could care less about any jerseys or political statements. People that do are not likely fans of the team or the sport.

It's fine, depending on what the reason is... this reason, was "clearly" in protest of the law by a person that doesn't deserve to have a word in this.

The Suns are 3-0 this year when wearing Los Suns jerseys. Maybe they should wear them more often?

Maybe they should lose franchise rights in the State of AZ for being unpatriotic to the State and Country?

Do they put on 4th of July ones on? Xmas, maybe some gang ones to celebrate the brothers? Did they put on some hurricane jerseys for the disaster, how about some Oil protesting?

So many good causes to show support for... but politics is not one of them.

kevin johnson is throwing stones from cali so for fighting illegals we are punished we'll see how much shit talking there is in july

Yeah this Phoenix Suns owner must be a real shitty business man if he's willing to alienate (excuse the pun) his teams racist white fans just so he can grow his share of that lucrative illegal immigrant viewership.

No, she signed the Bill - If it was a law you could enforce it already.

If you're dark skin and American and lost your wallet, you give them your SSN or DL number or Address, then you take your ticket and leave. Just like the white dude.

If you don't speak English, don't have an ID, can't produce an address, phone number, SSN number or any other documents - you will be detained, and chances are you will go to jail.

You are required by law to have an ID on you at all times... You're not obligated to show it unless they have a reason. However, you don't respond with No I won't give you my id... you ask why they need it. Then when they tell you cars have been broken in around here and I'm checking everyone, you hand your ID over.

Illegals wont hand them over because either A) They don't have one B) It's stolen information

So issue bonds. Buying bonds is much better way to support this argument than signing petitions.

You "ARE" required to show ID in any State in the USA upon request by the police for any reason, at any time?.

Do you even live in America?

We have had bonds, public auctions, votes, donations, drives, state funds, fed funds, hell even minute men to help.

This didn't start this year... it's been going on for a really long time.

When is the last time a federal government employee just pulled over a group of Latino looking people at 2AM to check to see if they are legal? For those that say by law they can't just pull over anyone just to check for this.. Bullshit! Cops can look at 100 cars on the road and with all the laws on the books these days could pull over 70% of them on something.

Well said sire.

Just curious, but are any other border states intending to have laws like Arizona's?
California and New Mexico's borders are obviously smaller but Texas is huge.

Texas has a tiny natural wall that slightly slows them down... other states will follow.

Border Patrol stops car loads all the time... all over the place.

The power the Police are getting, is MUCH more restricted... and the reason they're getting is because Border Patrol can't keep up even when it's the largest growing job force in Arizona.

Well, try and not give ID to any police officer and see what happens, I can assure you, you will get some sort of charge or face planted on the trunk of your car....that is what I was getting at.
I have been to many States and would not think of giving the police any reason to haul my ass in......they will always find something to get you on or just make your day miserable.
It's better to cooperate with them than to give them any reason to haul you in.

While it still may not be legal, they still do it ;)

That law is for a terry stop.

Someday it will be.

I live in Florida and I can't remember if this was only Fl or Nation wide but I heard more hispanic babies would be born this year than any other race. I heard there was a rush to make english the official language before someone made it spanish. I heard they wanted a FL license plate that said something about hispanics discovered or founded FL.

When you go to Home Depot the aisles are marked in both English and Spanish. I went to use the ATM the other day and to start the menu I had to choose between the english or spanish version. I went to 7-11 to get some doughnuts and that whole section was changed to spanish food. I understand that it's all done for business. My point is that hispanics have become so prevalent that businesses have had to adapt.

The hispanic culture favors a large family. They want several children. The dad wants a boy and will have 15 daughters and still have kids until he gets a son.

While a white family might settle for two children the hispanic family has six children that grow up and quickly start their own family with six kids and the numbers quickly add up overtaking any other race.

The vast number of the hispanic population gives them power to vote and they can elect who they want. As more hispanics come into power the face of America will change.

It's pretty much a done deal. The gates were left open and too little was done far to late.

react 05-07-2010 10:53 AM

All the more reason to give cops more power, eh?

No, but it is an understood law. Every time I have been stopped by a cop, even if it was in a parking lot, I was asked for ID. If you give cops a hard time in the States, especially since 9-11, your life will be miserable. Just my :2 cents:

I happen to like my freedom and let them play their games.

While I support the smallest/conservative gov possible, I understand in this situation it's not an expansion of Gov, it's an expansion of protection.

Basically your for the expansion of government on things you feel is right. That's fine, just don't call yourself small government.

And protection from what? Illegal immigrants produce crime at a much lower clip. They also aren't driving vans filled with explosives into Times Square. If this is about protection, there are a lot of countries that shouldn't be allowed to enter legal or not.

Jerseys aren't about causes. They are about money. If making a uniform that had the nativity scene on it would bring in sales, they would make one.

No, I'm for protection of the people which is "exactly" what the Gov's Job is so no part of it could be an expansion.. it's entire job is this.

More illegals in jail/prison here for murder than citizens. You may want to check your fact sheets.

Protection is keeping farmers alive being murdered by illegals. It's stopping drug lords from coming onto our lands, raiding American homes. It's stopping them from attacking our Cops and Border Patrol. It's the largest number of home invasions ever in Tucson - years now, the kidnap capital Phoenix of the U.S. (only behind mexico city), so many drugs you can find cars broken down on the high way full of drugs.

That's just a .0001% of what is going on.

When you live here, you know it's not bullshit... that's why the citizens of the State support the bill.

Then don't make political statements around them and simply sell them. Don't have the owner stand up and make a statement on something he clearly didn't read.

cwd 05-07-2010 01:18 PM

all this anger directed at the Suns...yet the Spurs wanted to wear their Los Spurs jerseys, they just couldn't get them to Phoenix in time. Or the NBA, who gave its approval to the Suns to wear the jerseys and even put out a statement disagreeing to the law. How about MLB who has voiced their concern with the law as roughly 30% of its players are hispanic.

xxweekxx 05-07-2010 02:36 PM

wanna know whats funny? i think this will lead to more profiling, and good luck to hispanics/etc

BUT shit tons of countries do this shit.. while i was living in panama, one night i went out to the clubs, forgot to carry my passport with me, and one the way back in a TAXI they stopped the taxi, id'ed everyone, and pulled me from the car and let everyone else go..

they knew i was american, yet, they were like if we dont see ur passport u r going to jail with us.. luckily my driver was working, i called him, he went to my house, got my passport, and brought it down.. the whole time i was sitting in the police pickup truck.lol

so this isnt such a big deal.. basically countries like panama require EVERYONE to have ID on them.. you could be walking, be a passenger, and a cop stops u, says show me your cedula(national id card), or passport, if u dont have one, enjoy jail for one night..

so america is lenient compared to a lot of other countries.. ive never ever been id'ed in usa only except when im driving, using my cc, or buying liquor.. never had a cop stop me on the road or in a taxi and ask for my id.

Can you provide the statistics for this? Not saying you're wrong, but I've read that it's around the 10% area for felonies. Would be shocking to see it over 50%.

I'm not arguing the law. Your state, your rules. I just thought the whole thing was funny considering the rhetoric on that side of the aisle has been for the federal government to get smaller and leave everyone alone. I also distinctly remember a lot of talk about state rights from that side as well.

Reminds me a bit of the Governor of Texas talking about socialism and seceding from the Union. Then crying a week later that he wasn't getting flu vaccines fast enough from the federal government. The people on that side of the aisle don't want smaller government, just different government.
