Cross selling and rebilling of people who are too lazy to cancel wasn't the issue -- outright FRAUD was. You were cheering support for webmasters that essentially have no members area.

See, shit like that isn't good for the industry, and like someone else said during all the VISA stuff - if we don't police the industry ourselves to some degree, someone will police it for us. (IE, VISA, the feds, or the consumers themselves).

Has anyone ever seen the insite of one of FM's members areas? They have like *everything* available leased-content wise & why not.. I remember one time reading (in AVN maybe?) about their something like over 250,000 members.

I'm pretty sure you don't build up a membership base that way by scamming people. Not to mention (again) that our industry is under fucking attack.

LOL love is a strong word for someone that's just started posting here, give it a week or two ;)

So I read your article. It's not bad, but there are a couple flaws in it - the first one being that you overestimate the importance of content, and the second being that you underestimate the surfer (yes, I know that is hard to do but it is possible) --

everyone producing content would love to think that content is the be all, end all of the industry. It's not. I am not discounting its importance by any means, but the bottom line is that content doesn't influence the guy who's a habitual cancel on trial kind of surfer. While it may entice him to join again and cancel yet another trial, it does not make him stay. After all, why should he? If he's got a fast connection he can download what he wants -- then come back in a month, two weeks, whatever your minimum time to let him trial again is and repeat the cycle.

Once a surfer figures out that he can cancel on trial and still get his rocks off enough to make him happy, he will NOT buy a monthly membership to the typical paysite, and I don't blame him. As a matter of fact if you updated every day I still don't think it would sway surfers to recur... sites that don't have trials usually recur better than those with trials, but even if they don't a significant amount more money is made from charging 29 bucks up front than charging three bucks and trying to turn it into 39.

In any business you calculate the best return on your investment -- that would be how to get the most money out of it in a specified period of time.

And yes, I agree that this business has some bad guys, but it's not unique to this industry either.

You guys think sinfulone has a lot to say here? You should try spending live, quality time with him.

And it's even worse when he's mostly right. Of course, most of you have already seen that.

These are not our sites but I would say 90% of the sponsors have cross sales including us.
If a sufer wants they can uncheck or check the box if they choose to get the other sites in the cross sale.

If they have a credit card, I'm sure they can read if they don't notice the cross sale boxes then they are blind

My posts are regarding fraud in our industry. The thread may have started in regards to your dollar-site members areas, but it's sort of spun into a more generalized discussion at this point :).

But for anyone reading, if the shoe fits wear it.
And most scammers that I know of and talk to wear it proudly :1orglaugh

I guess what it boils down to is in the end it's going to be the consumers that determine if they have been scammed out of their money or not by complaining to their banks or the processor. And (eventually) the new CC regulations, tracking, reporting & analysis of chargebacks and credits (lets not forget those credits that have been saving us for years) will weed people out of the industry.

Just something for people to keep in mind.

Well this thread was started in slamming us with wrong information
and people only read the first and last page. so they will automaticly think we are scammers

and i checked out orgyfucked and reallyamateur and I can see the crosssell text just fine

Its not even in fine print so whats the problem?
I can see that its black on gray but its not that difficult to read
