-drive by shootings in camden/newark

- weather is shitty.. long ass winters, short summers

-its fucking expensive up north.. i was paying 1,500 for a 800sqft apartment in tenafly.. you can get something for around $1k but it wont be new, nor have central heat/ac, nor have a washer/dryer in unit(and i needed those things)

-its not near any vacation spots like FL where u can hop to tons of nice lil spots

-roads are completely horrible, id venture to say panama roads are on par with jersey roads, i mean ive busted tires driving in paterson/newark, and im yet to lose a tire in panama

-stuck up biatches

heck in panama i know a black guy who were flat out told by the company they dont want a black guy representing them in upper management level... wonder how many other companies in usa feel this way...

I grew up in the housing projects in Brooklyn as a white Jewish kid that got along with everyone regardless of race or ethnicity. I hung out with my Black and Puerto Rican friends in the PJ's and my white/Italian/Irish friends in "the neighborhood" ... Canarsie. You couldn't get a more authentic Brooklyn neighborhood in the 80's. It was where the movie Goodfellas was based on ... in real life! The characters in that movie were the fathers, uncles and grandfathers of my friends in the neighborhood. "Big Paulie" lived around the corner from me ... a couple blocks away from the housing projects!

Anyway, outside the projects, Canarsie was full of Italians and Irish kids that would try and beat up my Black and PR friends if they "walked up the wrong street".

It was ugly ... and I hated it. I can't even count how many times I got called a N!GG ER lover from MY WHITE FRIENDS in the neighborhood or almost got stomped or batted out for trying to stop them from beating down my friends from the PJ's!

And the same was true for white kids from the neighborhood trying to come into the projects.

It was a racial and ethnic divide!

Depends on what part of South Jersey you're talking about. Big difference between Ocean and Atlantic counties (west of the barrier islands that is) and the Philly suburbs such as Camden County and western Burlington County.
