You have to feel it out. I used to get reactions from religious zealots that ranged anywhere from "I don't date people who exploit women." to "OMG that's so incredibly hot... why didn't you tell me sooner? I TOTALLY would have fucked you on the first date if you hadn't waited so long to tell me what you did for a living."

With the woman I'm dating now, I told her I'm a professional photographer, shooting weddings and portraits, and "other more risque stuff I'll elaborate on later". Then when talking on the phone for the first time, I told her "I must confess... I minimized the sound of my involvement in the 'more risque' stuff... the truth is I make a living in adult entertainment."

Either you can approach it head on, and sound confident... confidence can make her more comfortable. If you beat around the bush, it can make you sound potentially sleazy. Nothing is guaranteed, however. Some will simply not talk to you again.

I make no excuses for who I am and what I do. That being said I usually don't talk about my job or boring shit on the first couple dates anyways. I tell them stupid shit like I'm a jewel thief or bank robber, usually by the 2nd or 3rd date they get agitated and if they keep pressing then I tell them all the boring shit like what I do for a living, where I went to college, etc in rapid-fire.

BTW, if you come across as uncomfortable about it, it will creep them out no matter what. If your attitude is this is who I am and what I do, if you don't like it then move along; you da man no matter what you do for a living.
