For all you guys who are like "have you learned your lesson, move, blah, blah, blah" We've moved servers 5 times in 3 years. Each time we moved it came with either a mess of permission problems, days of downtime, 2 times servers got mysteriously broke and both times things happened where we couldn't get our money back. Last time we moved, we went with Candid who everyone here AT THE TIME swore by, so we thought we were safe. A few months after the move, the 10 minute up and down rollercoaster started with them, their support went to shit. Then everyone is lovin' likewhoa, so we move there, great service for 3 months, then things went to hell. When does it stop!
I am soooo sick of moving, so sick of all the bullshit, ready to pipe a 10mbps to my house, seems it's the only way to be in control of your own business. ![]() Ok, enough venting, now back to pretending my server is ok, saying to myself like the last 2 times "1 more time and I am moving".. ![]()

Wow LW was the biggest spammer in cologroup down threads and now they are even more down then cologroup!
I feel sorry for the cologroup customers that moved to LW. I'm sure other hosts will be more then happy to welcome you in the 0 downtime zone. BTW ![]() found that, perhaps they shouldn't be pissing away money on the biggest booth at internext, and instead on paying their uplinks (or whatever else is causing them to be down this much). This is what we do.
We always take in limited number of customers based on the number of our staff, so we can offer them tech support 24/7 365. And keep servers and our networking equipment always healthy. That is the reason why we have been hosting some of the largest tgps since 1997. Some of the hosts, take a million and one customers with couple of techs, not talking likewhoa , but in general. And eventually these companies fall apart. The only customers we have ever lost was due to pricing in the past which now we have lowered, rarely ever because of tech support.

Hi All,
This is Ben from Like Whoa and I'd like to inform everyone of what's happening. We appreciate all the support we've been receiving from all of you, and the reason for these intermittent downtimes is the total amount of traffic we're pushing. Last week when we brought up MFN/AboveNet we were quite confident that this would fix the problem. Which it had, temporarily though. Early this morning at 9AM EST the local loop connecting us to MFN had deteriorated and dropped. This forced all the traffic over to the other 2 links Network Plus/Yipes. Unfortunately the router interfaces were unable to handle this excess amount of traffic and caused the CPU to spike high to 99% After working on the router to restore it to normal levels the traffic had returned. Currently we are working on securing/stabalizing the MFN/AboveNet link at which point the network would return to normal. Fiber signals are measured in dB, what exactly happened is that our run at Telehouse ( 25 Broadway ) had too much dB loss, a -26 db, acceptable standards are between -5 and -20. This can be caused by dirt hitting the fiber optics. The connectors not being properly made, or a host of other problems that are not directly associated directly with our efforts to provide a stable connection. What we can hope for in the next few days, is that after today the MFN/AboveNet link will be looked over minutely and scrutinized by the best in the field and will prove to be reliable. If this link stays up in addition to our other providers we will not see any of the problems reported earlier. If our traffic falls back onto Yipes/Network Plus the router's interfaces are overloaded and will cause it to go down. Like Whoa, has been working non-stop the past 2 weeks to guarantee a stable network, and has been hurt more than many of you realize. We ask everyone to bear with us for just 1 more day as we truly feel these will be problems of the past. Best regards to all affected, Ben Uretsky Like Whoa, Inc. |

A: just 1 Problem: russians aren't cleaning the fiber Additionally, your post said something about BGP. We do have BGP as you verified and posted for us many times. Please tell us what happens when the link goes down. Therefore the BGP session goes down and traffic is routed to the other ports on the router that causes it to max out cuz we're pushing too much traffic. If our links stay up, we stay up. I feel confident after today when Telehouse fixes the dB loss problem we will stay up permanently for many months to come. Get your facts straight, Ben |

Last I head MFN/AboveNet was in bankruptcy and it looked like they had no future. Not sure if this is still the case. So when is this 10Gig network going to be turned up ? and how do you plan to route 10GB if your router can?t even handle what you have now? And it does not appear you have been working non-stop the past 2 weeks because if you did there would not be a new thread everyday here "LikeShit is Down" What router are you guys using? |

We let BGP do the inbound routing for us. AboveNet proved to be a much better provider than Yipes and therefore most (not all) routes were selected over them. Route servers propogate only the selected best route, not all routes available to our subnets. Get on a real router ( not a route server which is a route reflector client ) and do a sh ip bgp xx.xx.xx.xx for our network.
Do we need to give you BGP 101 lessons, if your going to post something, atleast do enough research to back up your argument. The circumstances of the past 2 weeks were out of our hands, if there was something this bunch of crazy russians could have done, it would have been done. Believe you me! |

Hey all,
Sals forgot the answer that he had to edit his post...hahah(retard) Listen we all know that LWI had a situation this past week and we all know that when someone goes down all the haters come out to play . The bottom line is thats natural in these case to thrash companies but seriously when is enough.... I understand that people are trying to get buissnees through this situation but honestly it's the wrong approach, you guys should be earning your braggin rights not bad mouthing people at the top.... I saw this thread ever since it developed and honestly nothing but hatters..You guys should be ashamed of your selves acting like little crack heads who have nothing better to do with all this yyayyayyayayayaya come on webbastards have a little respect for your elderly.... |

We're using a Foundry Networks BigIron 8000 for our core1 router, and a BigIron 4000 router for our core2 location.
Despite what it's advertised on www.foundrynet.com this router can not support 999mbps/sec on 1 gigabit interface that is diversely routed to the Internet. The amount of CAM entries that need to be created are too much and the interface fails. Foundry Tech support has spent well over 100 hours in the past week to try and determine on how to improve/resolve this but without any luck. We do not loose hope, even when our vendors tell us there is no solution. We will always be here fighting to keep your connection up. What we tell customers/post on boards does not directly relate to the huge concerted effort in our organization to get your stuff back online. We're here to stay, and the sooner these problems are resolved, the sooner we can all get back to work and start making $$MoneY$$. |

SexTracker's 11608 AS. tons o routes. and i call bullshit on your "it's out of our hands" argument. passing the buck isn't gonna do you or your customers or your reputation any good. apologies to the non-techies here. basically what i'm saying is that LW has one route, presently advertised to the internet at-large, while competitors have a shitton of different routes advertised.

First off, Exodus is a failing company bought over by Cable and Wireless.
Secondly, they had Foundry BigIron aggregate routers at their New Jersey City facility when I used to do work there over 1 year ago. Additionally, currently we are advertising our routes out 2 AS's. 6517 + 11846, Yipes / Network Plus respectively. The reason you see only 1 is because our MFN connection is not up, if it was these problems wouldn't be happening. As for why 11846 is not showing up, that's a good question, but here's our BGP summary to prove what I'm saying: Neighbor Address AS# State Time Rt:Accepted Filtered Sent ToSend 64.61.24.149 11846 ESTAB 1h 9m11s 115416 0 8 0 66.7.129.225 6517 ESTAB 2h23m50s 115877 0 7 0 As you can see: 11846 has 8 routes sent to it, meaning we are advertising 8 networks through Network Plus. And 7 routes sent to 6517, 7 routes advertised through Yipes. Additionally, as soon as the cross connect is functional we will begin advertising our subnets to/through MFN in addition to these 2. |
