Guy with a gun holding a protest sign at presidential town hall

So, NBC cameras noticed a holster and a handgun on some guy who is protesting at a town hall today in new hampshire. It's on church private property, and in new hampshire it's 100% legal to have a non-concealed weapon on private property with the property owners permission.

The president will be there in an hour to speak at the town hall meeting. Does this scare you? Does it bother you that radical extremist groups are encouraging people to attend these meetings and shout down the speakers? Does it further bother you that many of these groups are funded by the most profitable insurance and pharma. companies in the country?

Change is not easy, but mixing incitement to riot with handguns on church properties where the president will be... just scares me a little bit. Howz about you?

So if Obama shows up it suddenly becomes illegal? lol I don't see a problem with a lawful citizen exercising his rights. And umm since he is protesting against obama suddenly its all "fringe" groups? So were all the Bush protesters that acted like idiots in NYC fringe groups as well? Or are they fringe groups just because they don't have the same opinions and are protesting opposite of your beliefs ?

No I dont think anyone said it would become illegal if obama shows up. It's legal to carry a non-concealed weapon on private property with the property owners permission in new hampshire.

As to the fringe aspect, it's been widely reported for weeks now as well as the primary donors to the groups. There is a direct link between the companies wishes to prevent healthcare reform as proposed, and the incitement of like-minded people to attend democratic town halls and disrupt them by shouting. Even including instructions to shout down early and often. This is not really disputed by either side anymore, no biggy.

The combination is a little scary to me.

You can not carry a firearm within range of the President of the United States. He will be removed by Secret Service or at the very least told to relinquish his side arm during the time while the President is there.

technically it would be a violation of his rights if they made him leave if the property owner didn't want him to.

Anyone who does a quick google news search can find gun sites encouraging people to attend Town Hall meetings... as you say, it is not disputed.

i'm all for a persons right to bear arms in public..

although, i think there should be some limits when it comes to certain circumstances.

if there were 1000 people in the crowd with weapons, there is no way that any important political or corporate figure would address a crowd in person..

Not in va.. I open carry all over Northern Virginia here.

NH i do not know the laws. But you cannot be disarmed unlessed you are being detained by police. And to be detained by police you have to have commited a crime or being placed under arrest.

This is a very touchy situation where laws vs rights vs common knowledge come into play.

If he is unlawfully disarmed or removed would it be a violation of his rights? It could be a payday for him.

veryyy interesting situation.

hopefully more of you carriers will begin attending events, I honestly hope more and more and more people bring guns to public events like this.

nothing makes cops more paranoid than gun carriers, theyll make a law about it across all states

You can "cut costs" and still have a project cost more in the end. Buy a gross of staples instead of a box at a time. You just cut costs (and spent more).

I know, I'm being a butthead, but it's true.

Some congress dude on tv yesterday said they'd found 50 some million in savings in medicaid without changing a single thing on the patient end, or patient care. (all overhead bullshit). But it's not sexy, so it wont make big news.

It's not a law but it's enforced... Just google around, Secret Service asks you to remove all firearms before entering a building that houses the US President. They can deny you access to the building if you refuse. I'm pretty sure when any private property owner gives access to the President of the United States to enter the building they also authorize the Secret Service to protect and defend the president under whatever means is necessary. The Secret Service would not allow the president to go somewhere unprotected...

I'm sure that must be true. They can't really allow any chance of mayhem around the prez or family. I admire him for wanting very open public appearances and such, it's just a little unnerving. Probably due to all the extreme protectionism from before or whatever you'd call it.

Anyway, president is being introduced now at the town hall event. No mayhem to be seen yet.

Nah. No possible way to compete with the amount of mileage built up between DC & Crawford, TX with George Jr.

Thats bs. Gun carriers have to have a permit normally to carry. To get a permit you must pass a criminal background check. The cop knows if you have a permit then you have no crimes. Don't spew the propaganda please. lol I've been pulled over with a gun permit holder and when the cops see that they don't get nervous, and when I was there they didn't even ask to see the weapon. It was a non issue.

Well, the town hall went well. No wild west gun play with people taking dives off saloon balconies or anything.

Actually, what a great Q&A that was. Really went a long way to put to rest some of the crazy distortions out there. IMHO.

Does it bother you that you are forced to blatancy lie and obfuscate the issues in order to advance Obama's unpopular agenda....... or do you feel the end justifies the means in this case?

I have no objection to the term talking points being applied to my questions. I just think that it's inherently disingenuous for corporate sponsors, using websites with names full of words like "patriots" and "freedom", to literally incite people to go disrupt meetings by shouting down speakers who support a plan that would go contrary to their corporate interests.

Call me crazy. Some do, lol.

I'm independant btw. Not that anyone believes anything once they put their dukes up, but for what it's worth.

Here's some free advice for republican steering comittees: The best way to let a democrat trip up is to give them as much rope as they want. They are not like you. They do not employ a huge rubber stamp when they gain power. They fight amongst themselves. Hence phrases such as "blue dogs". As soon as you hear that, you know the demo's are fractured. Apply wedge and push.

There ya go, enjoy.

I live in New Hampshire. There are a lot of people who "open carry". I see them all the time. I never feel threatened. Criminals usually hide their guns.

Your logic is that of a typical liberal Ill give you that. Strawman logic all around. lol In one scenario a guy is peacefully protesting breaking no laws carrying a weapon in a total legal sense totally within his rights, in another you bring up people being held down and injected against their will with untested vaccines and think its wrong to defend yourself against attacks totally going against your rights.. But again you are one of those "for the greater good" Eh comrade? lmao Breadlines would be awesome right? haha ok.. off to a lunch meeting enjoy your government supplied toilet paper... lol

We already have socialized health care. Medicare. How about how our government cares for veterans. Not good enough for the rest of us. Also, how our government gives itself health care. Again, for us lowly nothings it's too good. When will we useless millions learn our place?

Trust me, and I speak with first hand knowledge because I served....you do not want what the veterans receive for health care...you do not want this

If it would be that easy, to simply carry an unconcealed weapon and wait for the president to show up somewhere public undeterred and whip it out and fire, there'd have been a lot more presidential assassinations. And Obama would probably already be assassinated.

Better than spending all of his time at the "ranch". At least the guy is out working.

Gotta love it, I make a post. Some guy calls it bullshit, I prove the idiot wrong by showing him officers standing up AGAINST citizens carrying concealed weapons and all they have to retort back is "youre a commie liberal."

LOL

No substance, just shallow accusations and no intellectual retort. We all know some cops support CWP, but not all. In fact, many are against it. End of story.

and the main reason I laugh at these "ill kill anyone who tries to take my gun" is because they clearly havent been under Marshall law. I have been. Ive seen cops take guns from citizens, and until you have been there, sitting in your home in the hills of some small town in the middle of nowhere, you havent seen cops disarm people the way they do.

This guy said he would shoot anyone who tries to take his gun LOL...

watch this video, ive been through this, I am a gun owner... have guns less than 5 feet from me right now... yeah youre a tough guy in the hills, come out from your cave and join the real world. When cops and military knock on your door and demand entry to seize your weapons, then come talk to me about how BAD ASS you are kid.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...34430006732400

you talk big shit for some kid in the mountains but down here in reality, you will hand over your weapon or be brought to the ground. THAT is why I laugh at these idiots when it comes to 'Ill shoot anyone who tries to ..."

BLah blah blah.

watch that video, its full of gun fanatics, who instead of dying, handed over their gun...

I know what its like under marshall law, you just think youre tough becuase you aint never dealt with the reality of the police and military taking your guns from you.

Fletch, don't even waste your time. Not one single person believes Sticky would do anything other than roll over and cry. He's not going to shoot anyone and any cop could disarm him in a heart beat.

There's no sense trying to convince an idiot that he's an idiot. It's just a giant waste of effort.

I know but I had to post that last part. These guys are big shit until reality kicks in, its some scary shit when the military tells you you HAVE to leave your home. I have been under forced evacuation MANy times in my life. You cannot stay and you cannot be armed.

Until youve felt that sort of reality, I have to point out the idiots when I see em... reality is a hard pill to swallow when it comes to guns and cops. They will disarm you and if you raise that weapon to them, you are good as dead.

Anyhow, you are absolutely correct, all talk. I yes sir cops and do not even try to take my guns when I evacuate. being FORCED to leave your home against your will is awake up call, and lets any American know exactly where we stand in regards to freedoms. Under marshall law, your "rights" are gone, ive been through it more than once...
