lol, you fucking idiot. The kool-aid in that picture has nothing to do with race, it has to do with all of the sheep "drinking the kool-aid" but you obviously don't even know what that means.

It's a Jim Jones / Guyana / Jonestown reference isn't it?

I do not buy in that the government will have complete control over health care however, the federal government has to much control as it is and I think the more control they have the less power the people have, and there is where the problem lays. There are so many people that are cheap and refuse to pay for the best health care the world has ever seen they want it handed to them on a silver platter at the expense of others.

so instead you want a company in control of it? you think because you have insurance you and your doctor can do whatever you want? There are more people that cant afford health care or they are a victim of the small print of their policy. it has nothing to do with cheap. this year over million americans will go bankrupt over health care bills. During the governemts summer break over 100,000 people will lose their health coverage.

This is where the disconnect is between reality and rhetoric IMO.

People are the government. The government is the people. When the government has control of something, in a democracy, that can only mean that the people have control of it.

Somehow the republicans have managed to convince everyone that for profit corporations operating in the interest of profit are good and a government entity operating in the interest of it's constituents is somehow evil or fascist.

I have influence over my congressman (in a manner of speaking), I have zero say over what Aetna does. :2 cents:

I don't know the answer. However I'm not against having some regulation of the health care industry. After all, we pretty much deregulated the financial industry and, left to their own devices, they nearly drove the world into a depression, because of their endless search for ROI.

Did you benefit from the deregulation like they promised you would? Did it improve your standard of living? Look at where this country is now.

A government option is a good idea for the nation, and it's one way to insure that there is a force that is in competition with the insurance and pharmaceutical industry as it exists today.

The purely free market system is a great idea, and as has been mentioned here earlier, we have the best health care money can buy. Well, ask yourself, how much longer will you be able to buy the healthcare that you take for granted now. Believe me, as investors beef up their desire for ROI, more and more people are being squeezed out, and experiencing the type of care that you are saying that government healthcare would cause anyway.

This thread does raise some good points though.

Baddog's friends represent an honest concern voiced by many when considering a government health plan or a socialized plan. There is the worry of incentive in the system, and how to go about insuring that bright minds are encouraged to work in the system and are rewarded appropriately for their input.

I believe we may take comfort in the fact that this president mixes well with all types of experts and professionals in many fields who offer input and ideas about projects he wants to work on. I think people actually like him and would like work with him to create a successful health care system.

These experts will not ignore the thoughts that you and others are raising here and all around the country as they work on this plan. I think that these enlightened, modernly thinking, minds will work to see that these things are dealt with as much as possible.
