5%, 10%, 50% Granted it's different for free sites, how large and profitable the site is, and so on. But just as a rule of thumb, what would you ask for? I'm not implying that I'm going to ask for a refund. But would be intereted to hear your input.:) |

SleazyDream they give good down time discounts although I'd way rather have my network running.
I just got off the phone with the NOC and it's a hardware problem. I'm going to go ride my bike then eat chow and hope this shit is fixed by then. This fucking sucks. |

I've even endorsed them - without a doubt they are cheap, the cheapest I know of. Downtime happens with EVERY hosting company on the planet - period. Fact of life. Where professionalism comes in is how that company deals with the screwups. Likewhoa has had many days of problems - on a more expensive host I'd be demanding a free month and I'd get it or leave. For likewhoa prices you'll have to decide for yourself what would be fair and weigh that against what likewhoa has saved you over the years with their rock bottom prices. I firmly believe you get what you pay for and I personally pay more ( a LOT more) not to have prolems ever, and my site is NEVER down. I do pay though the nose for that though and I would have a LOT more money in my bank account if I had used likewhoa, although I'd probally be residing in a mental instutation cause the stress of downtime problems like what's happening to them recently is more than my fradgile little ego can handle. |

I've never had better rates than at LW and wouldn't want refunds. Just don't want the little glitches, but like you said, that MAY be the direct result of being cheap. My guess is that they'll have a stronger network set up within the next few weeks and this will all be history once and for all, I do hope. |

the more I think about this statement the more I TOTALLY DISAGREE with it. Imagine buying $1000's of banners on the hun or sleazydream and then having the site not load? Imagine buying $1000's worth of prepaid galleries on TOP TGPs and then having your galleries not load? Imagine being a higher end free site with $1000's of pre-paid advertising and then having your site not load? it's worth the extra money on ANY site - free or affiliate - if you want it to load and you care about your clients and surfers. |
Bottom line is their next serious downtime will cause them losing many webmasters and should realise that. An advise is to use more than one hosting companies. More than two if possible. This way you spread the downtime and make it less serious for your business. Of course if some certain domains are down, this can affect your whole operation.

Bottom line is the problem is on OnFiber/Telseon end, a company that provides the local loops for our company. Technicians are on site and working on the problem. I had to jet from my house because the laptop is in the office.
I will say that we have now light up 6 strands of dark fiber provided by Con Edison to 3 locations in NYC (something we have been working on getting from the LAST downtime - Sept 11). We will be utilizing the 10 gigabit network (first in adult - one of the milestones we had for this year on our hosting division) towards the end of the year. Other providers were to be turned up this week, but technical issues and holidays will now postpone it for next week. Like Whoa is in no position to deceive their customers and our plans and promises have always been based on the information provided by our partners and vendors. We plan to roll out a 10 gigabit network map covering multiple locations, premier upstream providers (i.e. Cable & Wireless), and most importantly improvements to our already phenomenal customer service. I personally apologize for these problems as we planned to resolve our issues earlier. Happy Thanksgiving, One Love and :321GFY to all the haters (we are not going anywhere!) So, we have been down for over 4 hours this morning, whne can we expect to be back up and our sites running smoothly? Lots of us had to run out and switch up banner spots on other sites everytime our server goes down, I would like to be able to switch em back so I can go join the family for Turkey day.

gleem,
I really do not want to committ to a definitive date, but after speaking with our head technicans (4 of which are on site right now, including the CTO), but we are expecting no more then 30-40 minutes from now. //Nick |

Darren,
Definitely. I'm not sure who has provided you with such an offer, however Stan (my partner) has been on a honeymoon for the past 2 weeks. As far as Biggy, he works for us during Summers/Winters when he returns from college (helps in sales), I do not think he was selling anytime recently. Our relationship with Verio has ended after the September 11 downtime; we have not officially terminated the contract but pursuing legal discussions with their counslers and ours. They have not provided us with service as specified in the new contract (we had plans for having them play a major role in our 10 gigabit network, after the downtime we chose to work with Cable & Wireless) so we did not stick around. I cannot disclose further, but if you can e-mail me the offer in some written form ([email protected]), I will look into it. Thanks |

My biggest gripe is that Dennis sold me on the fact that you guys had redundant pipes so your network never goes down, but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. When will that be back?:( |

one more question then ( i will be emailing u the offer). If we are NOT on verio what are we on exactly? Cable and wireless is good because that is exodus I believe? But what are we currently on and what are the future plans? |

Darren,
For the most part since the downtime we have been utilizing mostly Yipes (Williams + Level 3), Qwest, and a simple provider of peer routes to further spread the traffic. Cable & Wireless is an excellent provider, we were in discussions to work with them for over a year prior to signing a contract. The company's network shares 1 AS number between Exodus & Cable Wireless itself making it a #2 network in the world in accordance to the recent BoardWatch study. |

just for info - people have asked me why I'm sticking my nose in here. Many of my advertisers use likewhoa hosting and when thier galleries don't load it turns my surfers off and that hurts me. I want likewhoa to work as much as anyone else here and i have a FINANCIAL interest in them working too with pre-paid galleries on my site using them and with trades I do with TGPs that use them that arn't returning what I'm sending them right now.

Sleazy,
I do not agree with your post in its entirety because of the way LikeWhoa hosting is characterized. LWI has been pushing the limits of adult hosting ever since we started in October of 2000. Aside from our advantage of other divisions and streams of business (SexCounter, AllLiquid, Development, Design, etc) we are able to build the ultimate infrastructure for hosting because of our expanded needs. Doing that has also required us to focus strongly on support and customers (we had bad judgement on our part as I mentioned before regarding timing for the past few months). Our prices or offers are tied strictly with other products for marketing purposes, they are not meant to deceive that we are providing service of lesser quality, but opposite one of the best, if not the ultimate. These types of deals have allowed us to grow at consistent rate of 25% per month this year alone in our hosting division without any additional expenses on advertising. I would love to discuss ways how we can work together at the show. |
