Why are content people so fucking paranoid? Just put a fucking sample movie on your site. I don't want to fill out your fucking forms and wait for a fucking password!

Then besides the paranoia, all the content is shit. Then when you find movies you like, they don't want to sell you them in mpeg format. No wonder there is so much content theft. It's too much of a pain in the ass to buy.

If there is anyone that has studio quality hardcore mpegs that are editable please list them here.

I'm looking for full length and 1 minute mpegs that I can cut into 15 second versions. I want them good quality. Like straight from a DVD. Major studio stuff. Please! I don't know how much longer I'm gonna make it.

I agree. Content sellers that require you to register before you even get to see their previews are crap. I don't bother anymore.

All I want to see is the previews of the content they're selling. If I want to buy then I can understand having to register, but not just to see the previews. I'm still getting spam from content providers that I registered with like 2 years ago. All they wanna do is spam you until you die from spam overload! Spaaaaaam!

Imagine if you had to register your personal info at McDonald's before you could see what they were selling? Lame.

The really stupid thing is how I've been hearing from almost every content provider that I know that sales are down. Hello? Maybe you should get rid of the requirement to register just to see previews of what your selling.

I now get 7 or 8 spams a day from them! My journey has been a long and pointless one.

Any content guys care to comment on the paranoia issue? Take a long look in the mirror and tell yourself...."Why am I so paranoid?", "Maybe if I showed people my content I could make a sale!", "Maybe I should get quality content.","If I got quality movies, I would be the only one who does!"

Only reason why we ask to register before getting the previews is because we offer video previews of all our stuff and it would cost a lot of money in bandwidth because of the surfer. When you got "adult content" in your domain name, it bring you a lot of free riders ;)

Brown Bear our sales rise every month, so no complaints about the market from us. Plus if any one wants to come of our list they need only email me. The weekly updates bring in a lot of business and the sharp buyer wants to know what is new and hot. And not go trawling around in the hope of finding something. Most of our clients actually ask to be kept updated.

But then what do I know about selling, I've only been in sales, and not just porn, since 1974.

Charly, that's the weakest excuse since the bandwidth excuse that Brown Bear pointed out.

You guys don't get 50,000 people a day. Don't cry about bandwidth. Don't cry about giving away free porn. Webmasters are the only one intentionally trying to find your sites.

You are paranoid and you are promoting the stealing of your own products. I'm sick of hearing you guys whine about people stealing your products when you make it so undesirable to shop for.

If you sell movies, you could make a 10-15 second clip of each one you offer without making people jump through a bunch of hoops. Even a 5 second one. I just want an idea of the quality. Get real with your silly excuses. I personally think it's sheep mentality. One of the first guys to sell content made people jump through hoops so you guys thought it was what you're supposed to do.

i have "adult content" in my name but do not see any substantial levels of traffic from surfers as a result.

i do not require a password but then again i don't sell movies, which if i did, I would reconsider putting up a password entry.

I can guarantee you that it takes a shit load more band to sell the signup than it would from webmasters to sell the movie.

It's not a valid excuse, it's a shitty excuse. You can get bandwidth for .40 a gig now days. It's time to lighten up the security and make our shopping a little more enjoyable. I see movies I like from time to time, but I don't know where they came from. I tell ya, I'm getting more and more tempted.

I agree. Buying content is a pain. Some content providers would really need to take a marketing course. Not just the login info you hafta fill in and then store it for the future use (which takes time I don't have), but also the lack of preview material that some have. Some don't even know how to protect their material...

And the bullshit about BW?

I guess it's just the same as with any other net biz. Some know how to sell, others don't. Being a content provider obviously makes no diffence.

I just realised one of the other reasons we need you to log in.

We have our shopping basket on a database, so it needs to recognises each individual client. Which allows them to put sets they like into their basket to pay for at a later date (If money is tight) and warns them if they go to buy the same set twice. Must be murder trying to keep track of 1,000s of sets to make sure you do not buy the same one twice.

It also helps with the billing, confirmation and FTP process.

I think Shaggy is right though in essence. He is saying, ok, do the password protection, etc... just give me enough samples so I can know what I am spending my time on...

Most of us work 12 to 16 hour days and our time is VERY valuable. When you have 1 hour to FINALLY get around to getting that content or finding that sponsor, you have to sign up, HOPING they have good stuff, WAIT for the confirmation email, shit, by then, we dont have the time anymore or forgot entirely about that sponsor or content provider. And the emails are so spamtastic that they get lost with all the other stuff.

I for one am going to redo my sponsor and content area to at least have thumb samples and a few full size samples, and video clip samples. Then if they like my stuff, they can sign up and I bet the retention rate is 100 times higher.

I'm not showing screenshots. I am showing movies.

How is a screenshot a substitute for a movie? Yes it shows me who's on the movie, but it doesn't say anything about actually quality and size of the movie. I will now take more time out of my day to ask you personally if I may see an actuall sample of the movie. This step could have easily been cut out of the whole process with a little 5 second sample.

for what it worth, I just skip those asking for my mail. Do you want to spam me? Then FIRST try to have decent material at decent prices, then MAYBE I'll buy something and then you'll have my mail. Either way, I'll delete any spam without reading it, so with the "give me all your information and MAYBE I'll give you access to my almighty content" way of doing things, you lost the sales and the chance to spam. And don't tell you don't want the addresses to spam, because I get spam from each and any contant provider I ever registered, not to mention those which I bought from, even when I always opt out. I'm not a big buyer, maybe 200-300 a month, but I'm sure there are hundreds of webmasters who act like me. At least, most of those who posted in this thread. Just do the maths

Funny thing is that I was looking for content yesterday and thinking about posting exactly the same subject

My bad, his thumb was clickable to a movie sample. His site is great and I highly recommend it. The movies quality is brilliant and his customer service rocked.

Yes, INSTANT login if you have sample movies inside that people can hotlink. but if you only have the small pic samples that you guys usually put up then you sure as hell don't need ANY registeration, its not like your supplying heaps of free porn to the surfers by giving them access to a bunch of thumbnails with no big images. Guys, use an instant login feature, no normal surfer is going to login and give you a email address just so they can get into your SAMPLE page, but a webmaster that wants to buy $1000's of content will be happy to do just that and check your site out.

I mean whenever I visit a content provider and want to take a look inside I get to the signup page where it wants my full info and then it will give me a password. I am going to REALLY REALLY want to get inside other wise I just close it down and look elsewhere.

In my shop you can look around without having a password. As soon as you find out that you like the thumbs you need a password to see the big samples. It works the same with our Mpeg movies.
You get a password after you filled in your name and your e-mail address. Is that to much work? Please tell me what you think about this system?

Under you movies section the only way I can sample them if with screenshots. I'm not showing screenshots. I am showing movies. How is a screenshot a substitute for a movie? Yes it shows me who's on the movie, but it doesn't say anything about actually quality and size of the movie. I will now take more time out of my day to ask you personally if I may see an actuall sample of the movie. This step could have easily been cut out of the whole process with a little 5 second sample.

Then FIRST try to have decent material at decent prices, then MAYBE I'll buy something and then you'll have my mail. Either way, I'll delete any spam without reading it, so with the "give me all your information and MAYBE I'll give you access to my almighty content" way of doing things, you lost the sales and the chance to spam. And don't tell you don't want the addresses to spam, because I get spam from each and any contant provider I ever registered, not to mention those which I bought from, even when I always opt out. I'm not a big buyer, maybe 200-300 a month, but I'm sure there are hundreds of webmasters who act like me. At least, most of those who posted in this thread. And nobody is going to find your site as it is, its not like a surfers going to type = Adultcontentsales.com into his webbrowser is it? Guys, use an instant login feature, no normal surfer is going to login and give you a email address just so they can get into your SAMPLE page, but a webmaster that wants to buy $1000's of content will be happy to do just that and check your site out. I mean whenever I visit a content provider and want to take a look inside I get to the signup page where it wants my full info and then it will give me a password. I am going to REALLY REALLY want to get inside other wise I just close it down and look elsewhere. Sammy

As soon as you find out that you like the thumbs you need a password to see the big samples. It works the same with our Mpeg movies.
