100 seasons of Firefly

Some Guy 04-08-2009 07:03 PM

Futurama was one of the single funniest shows ever and I still can't believe it got canceled. It was always so much funnier than The Simpsons, which stopped being funny well over ten years ago.

we need a remake of this one!!

ePorn 04-08-2009 10:37 PM

Like so many others here: FireFly - hands down, way too early to get canned.

A revival would be great actually.

No one else misses Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles?! No wonder it got canceled, LOL!

when did it get cancelled.
from what i heard is that it still on (mainly because of the promo effect it has for the new movies)

Other than that, The Sopranos sticks in my mind ... I would have watched that 20+ seasons if it had continued, LOL.

Has that for sure been cancelled? We were getting into it.

mineistaken 04-09-2009 09:13 AM

jericho too soon. Oz was my fav, but they already had a lot of seasons.

PiffStenis 04-09-2009 11:46 AM

Journeyman
Rome

Firefly - that was great.

From way back - U.F.O. - was really good drama if you got into it.

CIVMatt 04-09-2009 11:49 AM

Arrested Development

I was just going to start watching Jericho because my friends were talking it up but then it got cancelled and don't know if I want to go into the dvd thing with it if it was cut short.

April 10th, 2009, apparently. They didn't want to announce it in the middle of the end-run. Sources at WB said the multi-million-dollar lot has been torn down. The show went from 18 million viewers to 2 million. TIVO/DVR viewers don't count, and since Fox put them in the Friday timeslot, almost everyone DVR's it ... so they got screwed.

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!

Brian Austin Green is obviously done with the show after what happened last episode, and Summer Glau (Cameron) as well as a few others have new projects. Charlie is done, obviously, as well. Word on the street is that Cameron gets written out in the season finale taking down SkyNet. I wonder if it's a showdown between her and John Henry?

Unfinished plotlines I actually care about:

1) Origins of Cameron. How did they capture her, what's her role with John in the future? Is she like his robo-fuck-buddy or something? Or did he send her away for another reason?

2) What the fuck is up with that thing on the sub? How does it tie in? "Tell John Connor that we say no?" Wow.

3) What in the hell is John Henry? Is the a kindler-gentler Terminator that will blend more easily with the humans? Maybe one without an Austrian accent?

4) What's the story with Manson's character? She's creepy ... is she a "good" or "bad" character? They seem to go out of their way to make her seem "bad," and that sometimes means it's more of a shade of grey, right?

5) So does SC die of cancer or not? By Terminator 3, she's dead .. are we retconning that timeline, or did jumping 2 years somehow avoid the event that gave it to her?

6) Did they tie up ANY loose ends in Salvation? Since they probably didn't know the TV show was going away when they made it, they might not have.

END SPOILER ALERT

The guys on the show apparently decided NOT to do a "series finale" even though they're not supposed to be coming back for season 3 ... so it'll be a "season finale" and we'll have to just imagine what might have happened. I *hate* when that shit happens.

that sucks, i knew that a lot of the cgi stuff, future lots were used in the movie. so they saved money that way.

and i knew it had the proiblem of being timeshifted to death. But the official cancellation was not listed. They were giving it till end of may, like eli stone to announce full cancelation.

gideongallery 04-09-2009 05:15 PM

oh kings just got cancelled

i love that show, what is really cool is that you are actually being taught the story of the rise and fall of king david.

Believe me, I hope it isn't going away, but there seems to be a LOT of talk about it. Here's one example, although you should obviously take it with a grain of salt:

http://www.fmqinc.com/terminator-cancelled/

If it comes back for another season, I will be extremely happy. It's one of the only shows I actually indulge in, with Sopranos now gone. In fact, I can't think of another show besides Terminator and Hells Kitchen that I watch.

how they ended this season, they could run the entire next season from the future lots. So tearing down the current lots might actually not be a bad sign

Fox announces it's fall schedule on May 18 and the new Terminator movie opens 3 days later. Will be interesting to see if they renew it or not. I hope they do, but Fox is so notorious for killing off the good shows.

And keeping bad ones running for far too long.

Raven 04-13-2009 05:37 AM

Sarah. Jericho is worth watching, even though it does end without an ending.

Although the ending is more like a second season ending than a series ending, which would leave it open to return.

It WAS one of the good ones, although a little more creativity was called for, other than the 'kill off of characters, rather than find another way to remove them.

Watch it. :)

Bama 04-13-2009 07:38 AM

I can't believe so many enjoyed Deadwood

As 24 is to the every season:

President is betrayed

Jack has to prove his loyalty over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over

No one trusts none of their co-workers and use that "soap opera" staredown... Deadwood is to cussing

Cocksucker this, motherfucker that, cocksucking motherfucker, son-of-a-bitch cocksucking motherfucker

That's the whole show!

Max - RiotDesign 04-13-2009 09:14 AM

I REALLY hope they don't cancel Fringe... lots of ppl hate it it seems

It might not be the greatest show ever, but right now it's the only thing that's filling the 'X-Files' type void :)

Yes, I agree totally. With only 2 Million viewers, hopefully they DO bring it back. The "justification" they used for releasing the "news" about the cancellation while it was still running was that Fox didn't want to kill the viewership for the final few episodes. Again, grain of salt here, but I'd be extremely disappointed if it's true.

Manowar 04-13-2009 03:25 PM

rome was cancelled?

don't know what I really miss but I think HOUSE needs to one more!!! I hate waiting one or two weeks to know what happens

gandalfuy 04-13-2009 03:34 PM

when was futurama cancelled?

Varius 04-13-2009 03:54 PM

He-Man and the Master of the Universe 2002-2003 animated series needed to go longer!

Titan 04-13-2009 04:23 PM

Enterprise was fucking terrible and unwatchable. Pretty much killed the Star Trek franchise IMHO. Hopefullly the new movie will fix it.

Terminator was a big pile of steamy shit and am not surprised its gone. So bad it hurt.

Stuff that was actually good:

Rome
Firefly
Farscape

I think they had a goodly amount of viewers but I believe all 3 were canned because they were too expensive to produce.

they are making a comic book out of it
like josh did with angel and buffy
and it may come back as either a motion comic (ala watchmen)
or an animated series

i like it enough that i would watch it if that happened.

rome had a fire on the set, cost of rebuilding with their audience levels were not justified.

firefly was not that expensive, it just did not have an audience, partly because it got bounced around so much.

Farscape that one was really expensive to make, and it audience level did not justify that expense. The magic number now is 4 commercial spots. If your show cost more than 4 commercial spots it gets cancelled, if it cost less it does not. Shows like knight rider stay on the air because most of their budget is covered by the product placement deal so they hit that magic number even with their crappy ratings.

Shows with no product placement/limited product placement get killed by that number.

donkevlar 04-13-2009 04:44 PM

I don't usually generalize, but if Arrested Development isn't one of your favorite shows than you're an ASSHOLE.

Same goes for anyone who likes "friends".

Dog Bites Man was cancelled WAY too early... great show by the Ali G producers, half scripted half making fun of real people. The show was pretty obscure so they could have kept going for a few more seasons.

Wonder Showzen.

check out eleventh hour

it sort of the profiler/manhunter thing all over again

eleventh hour is a more realistic version of fringe so it appeals to a larger audience.

dennisthemenace 04-13-2009 05:33 PM

Joey and Carnivale - both ended at a weird time with no closure offered and kind of a guilty pleasure.

Young 04-13-2009 05:41 PM

3 fucking pages and nothing on The Wire ending early????

Sure it wasn't technically canceled but...

well if they keep using the movies sets for their productions (free location) they could save a lot of money on production. That increases the possiblity they will hit the magic 4 commercial spot number to stay on the air.

gideongallery 04-13-2009 07:23 PM

sarah conner is insanely popular on the torrents
it ranks up 4th-7th most torrent tv show each week

http://showinsider.com/Details/Telev...Chronicles.htm

seed density is so high that you can get the episode in 15 minutes.

there are like 5.6 million viewers of the show from the torrent alone.

I bet you if this show did a dr who confidential type sister show it would easily get another 5-7 million viewers too. Doubling it ad revenue if they could monetize bittorrent traffic.

Such a waste.

ahoy 04-13-2009 07:59 PM

As soon as I read the thread title I immediately thought of "Arrested Development".. Glad to see there are many others who agree :thumbsup
