Is that a hint of jealously that I'm detecting from the OP?

In any event, college cannot be blamed for prevailing clusters of similar thinkers. Those types of persons would have always conformed to social norms, regardless of the level of education they pursued.

Followers are followers. Simple.
Wow, your language seems soooo forced. You come off more like Jon Clark or PussyServer when they try to prove something, than an intelligent person. You try really hard against a guy that enjoys making amusing trollish threads. You played it wrong in like 10 different ways. Also are you aware that 99.8888% of all college graduates wont be able to retire when they're 30 like you could(your claim)? OP made a general observation and you feel your very rare situation(your claim) somehow contributes to falsify his statements. Are you that fucking stupid?????

Well, I went to college for 6 years, and I am an Electrical Engineer.

I love working in my field. I can't complain, I have worked in the preparation of protection systems for a huge thermoelectrical plant here in my country and I'm now working in another substation to bring reliable electricity to a small town.

But I don't want to be employed by someone else the rest of my life. My plan is learning as much as I can and then start my own electrical services company.

Thankfully, my college prepared me in the electrical field and also had a good amount of what you might call "entrepreneurial" classes.

I started in the webmaster thing as a hobby. Then I found out I could make some nice side cash with it and just kept going because I enjoy it.

There are idiots in all walks of life and going to college does not effect that either way

Idiots go to college and idiots don't.

If a person is going to be an idiot, he's going to be and idiot anyway

The problem with most idiots is that they haven't figured out what they haven't learned

Keep learning all your life and you won't be an educated or uneducated idiot no matter what

"Forced" according to whose definition. Proper English is proper English. Excuse me if I didn't "dumb it down" in that particular instance.

If you were a frequent participant of some of the non-adult forums that I visit, you would be aware of the fact that such language is the norm for everyone in those places. Many writers and editors frequent such virtual hangouts and we try to maintain some semblance of respect for individual writing styles and proper punctuation.

To boot, you make an accusation that I'm trying too hard, when I really am not trying at all. Yes...really.

Now as for the generalization that the OP made, namely that persons are "fools who spent $xx,xxx+ to be taught to work a 9-5 and not think outside the box", that statement is false and is (in your words) "fucking stupid".

As several thinking persons have noted in this thread, college is a means to an end. Tertiary education is not essential for success, but neither should it be blasted unfairly and untruthfully in such a manner.

Now allow me to revert to one word answers and language that "blends in with the crowd", especially as some seem to be perturbed by non-compliance with the dumbing down of this place.

Word.

the only regret i have for not going to college was not having the extra in with the college sluts. but hey, when you're 19-20 and rolling in cash because you've got a good job, it' not all that hard to tear off some college panties either...

I never went to college...and it is one of the only things I regret in my life. That paper does mean something when your looking for a decent job. Even if your a web designer...they request a degree. We all know that any software you can learn just by reading and playing with the program...but to land the job they want that paper that says you went to college.

What really helps is if you went to a really good school also, cmon 2 people are interviewing for the job one clown graduated from Bronx community college and the other from Babson college...who is getting the job?

Education is very important, power is knowledge...

the best is when you get a group of college kids from the same class in a group and have a debate and their opinions are all the same (of the professor) and they do not realize it.

i just wanted to congratulate some of you fools you spent $xx,xxx+ to be taught to work a 9-5 and not think outside the box. you have made my life so much easier.

while you spent 4 years learning bullshit i spent 4 years doing business.

then some of you have the nerve to complain when you cant find a job because you dont have any expierience.

Whats schools are good for is the learning of a skill rather then the gaining of thought.. for instance web design school whould teach you a skill.

Unless your into pheloshpy or anything where debating is required then the knowledge you leqrn from a school should be pointed at job related processes and how to do the job you are going to be doing the best.

Thinking out side of the box is still nessisary in alot of jobs but if you training to be a accountent the numbers allways add up the same and thats what you should be studying.

Heres a tip...want to experience some university without the cost? You can usually get away with sitting in classes and no one will bother you. I went to a majority of my girlfriends classes one semester just for the hell of it and never had a problem.
