I have both US based and Philippine based outsources. My connection in the Philippines has always been a reliable resource and I have worked with him for over 4 years now. Let me know if you are interested in outsourcing offshore and I will hook you up.

The labor is usually always up to par. It's the managing the labor where the issues result.

There are good workers all over.

Same with me. Had a project deadline 12 days out and she just flipped.. "sorry - can't work any more - have to [go to school|help my family|cook dinner|become a nun] or whatever it was she was saying.. she basically dropped off the face of the earth. I had to learn Visual Basic programming and finish the work myself.. was a quote engine for a major insurance company - not too trivial

Foreign workers are really good at copying things that American people invent.

So when we (american programmers) go broke and give up because you hire them instead of us then WTF will they copy?

It's geting there.

Save $200 today and fuck yourself forever.

However, paying 5 USD to a person in a third world country is much much different than paying 5 USD to a person in New York :P

There are. Most just happen to be lazy, non responsible, fuckhead scamming slackers with no work ethic.

Correction if they put as much into their excuses as they did their work, then perhaps they would be great.

I hire domestic help, US and Canada only.

The people who were the cheapest have nearly always done the worst quality work, doesn't matter what country they are from. You get what you pay for.

I hear that a lot, but what I've seen on this board is programmers developing tube scripts,
CMS's, remote stats, toplist scripts, tgp scripts, etc, etc...
and all of it was completed and worked.

Maybe you hire people who have not developed any products and somehow you think
they are going to finish your job.
If they haven't done anything note worthy then why do you expect them to become
"super programmer" just because you hired them?

Maybe people don't hire correctly and then place the blame on "programmers".

People balk at price quotes from programmers then go for cheap.
End result is they got what they paid for.....nothing!

I'm sure you can find good programmers else where, but I'm curious about what you hired
them for.

Do you have any examples of what they produced for you?

You need some one local to manage them. i live in phoenix and manage 5 developers out side of US, the developers dont talk to the client, I talk to the client and then pass the filtered info to the guys who do the coding. Plus i am a developer so I know exactly what is going on.

We dont do one person projects, it has to be 3 - 4 people for 6 months type of project. 7 years in this biz, every project got delivered.

data entry and simple graphics. the filipino work ethic crushes that of the average indian. as far as programmers go i tend to stick to a couple trusted euros...

"data entry and simple graphics"

Like I figured, you out source "ditch digging".

Well fuck, of course you get good workers for that.

So I think for the purpose of this thread you are "over stating" yourself.

Eastern Europe programmers are pretty good. Definitely very dilligent. India is a shithole and so are their programmers.

I'd like for you to point out at what point in the original post he asked anything about programmers or coders, he asked where the best outsourced laborers come from. I told you. They come from the Phillipines, as many here will agree.

If I were to hire a third world programmer I would still go for a Filipino. Why? Because their work ethic is solid. Time and time again they will outperform an Indian. They generally speak better English, they don't call you sir twice every fucking message they send you, and they don't disappear and make bullshit excuses, or laze around when they should be getting your shit done. THEY DELIVER, whereas indians are almost always a fucking headache.

I'm not making my choice on any racial bias, but in general indians are sloppy, lazy, and hard to communicate with as outsourced employees. Whereas Filipinos are generally fairly fluent in their English, hardworking, and eager to please you as their employer.

If the title of the thread was "What country has the best outsourced coders?" well I would have told you to go for an Eastern European. they are skilled, easy to communicate VERY fluently with so you can trust you're on the same level of thinking, and they work affordably.

So for the purpose of this thread, and whatever you've deluded it's purpose into in your imagination, let me "overstate myself" when I say GO FUCK YOURSELF...

Exactly. If you fail at outsourcing, you most likely failed at managing your workers.

"Labor" means all kinds of labor not just ditch digging and hog slopping;
so for you to make blanket statements like you do, it's overstating your experience.

Thank you.

Don't tell me how great a restuarant is when all you do there is order take out from the
$1 menu.

I have a 42 and a 29 yo chick from Virginia working for me.. .pretty reliable chicks and nice to deal with... I dealt with some Indian outsourcing companies and it was a total nightmare... they have huge problems communicating their thoughts and their work totally and completely got my balls sticky....

So I say US labor FTW! (Especially now that everybody is getting laid off...)

last time I spoke to a US programmer he wanted $6k for a TGP script, I got it made for $500, exactly the way I wanted it and delivered on time

the problem is that 99% of the people don't do their homework when outsoursing, they simply hire the first guy that comes their way or choose the one that will cost them the least

it's not necessarily a homework thing finding good outsourcers. references and a good portfolio is nice, but run your job opening like any other business would run it's hiring process. make the applicants prove themselves. make it perfectly clear that if they aren't punctual in their delivery, and do not keep up making steady progress that they can show you, they are gone without pay. if they aren't keeping up with any progress punt the fucker with no pay and move on to the next. for data entry and graphics i usually take on a few at a time an let the cream rise to the top so to speak. once you find a good reliable worker, pay him a little above the original offer and do what you can to keep him busy. if they start slacking, goodbye! there's plenty of skilled and unskilled workers out there willing to fight for your pennies...
