Premium SMS billing..?

I have zero experience in this arena... but I think I am looking for a premium sms billing solution. I want to be able to sell ringtones, wallpapers, etc and have the ability to bill via their phone provider. The usual: enter your mobile phone number, confirm the pin and we send you the ringtone.

Does anyone have any guidance on this one? Contacts? Thanks!

I've heard of OpenMarket (http://www.openmarket.com/) and m-qube (http://www.verisign.com/m-qube/). Don't know much about them or other aggregators out there though...

For Europe you could check out http://www.dialxs.com/index.php?page=technology (I don't know if they offer US also)

It's been a couple of years so my info is probably retarded and it was for US-based premium SMS services (not talking WAP):

1. Find an SMS aggregator, who will be your middle-man between your service and carriers.
2. Acquire an SMS shortcode
3. Setup the SMS campaign with the aggregator: programming aside, must get carrier approval before you can sell your service.
4. Charge money for your premium SMS / downloads. Rake in what's left after the aggregator and carrier take their cut.

Again, I could be off from times as they are now. What I've seen, though, it's usually the carriers and the aggregators making most of the money. Be wary of people selling "services" for your SMS campaigns. You can also look to straight up web delivery for your content - it bypasses the whole SMS route, but there are still integration points: can you get your site on a carrier's deck (their home page), what type of content do you sell - if adult, there's hurdles, etc. etc.

I'm probably off my rocker, so take my comments in stride and good luck :-)
