Who Owns PimpProfits and Why Are They Billing This Guy's Card?

With all the drama going on lately, thought I'd google "fraudulent porn credit card charges."

One of the first links on the top of the page was:

http://episteme.arstechnica.com/eve/...m/348009875931
(yes, I know it's another forum but it's not porn-related, not webmaster related and relative to the survival of our industry so I ask for leniency)

This fine surfer states "While I am a fond supporter of the perverted arts, I definitely did not purchase any of these subscriptions."

- - This tell you this guy is a buyer? It tells me that.

So, Mr. Happy Paying Porn Customer, Mr blargh, from the lovely town of Cupertino, CA does what any well-rounded person would do when this fraudulent charge shows up on his statement. He goes to the web address provided to him(VaultSupport.com) and gets whacked with:

Quote:
CHARGE BACKS AND FRAUD FROM OUR MEMBERS

A billing chargeback will place your name, address, zip code, and credit card number into an Internet fraud database. ALL INTERNET CREDIT CARD COMPANIES USE THIS DATABASE. We DO NOT have any control over this fraud database.

If you chargeback your membership, the billing company WILL add your information to the ban database. If you get into this database you will not be able to use that billing company again. It is impossible to get off the ban lists.

BE SMART! DON'T DESTROY YOUR INTERNET CREDIT BY BEING ADDED TO THIS LIST AND INVESTIGATED FOR FRAUD!
Then, Mr. blargh, from Cupertino, CA, reaches out to a forum for help letting all of his fellow smut-buying friends know about his recent experience with a pornography website.

- - You think this guy's going to be excited about joining his next porn site? I don't.

- - You think his friends will? I don't.

KNOW THE PROGRAMS YOU ARE PROMOTING.

Understand what they do with the customers YOU send them. Some affiliate probably made $100 PPS on this guy and now, the odds are, no one else will make a dime off this guy ever again. You're gaining $100. But you're losing THOUSANDS over a lifetime.

Now, I don't spend too much time on this board(more lately, but not much overall) so I may be posting something that's already been posted. If that is the case, please let me look like an idiot only briefly and let this thread die.

But man, I just don't get what is going on in this industry with the practices of some companies. It's like smoking. You know it's going to kill you. You just know it probably won't be tomorrow so fuck it.

I did do some digging on "whois" and found a bunch of "Related Sites" : freshteenbabes.com, sororityslutcams.com, sexosinfronteras.com, searchgals.com, pornmovievault.com, momsover50.com, loliti.com, juicygals.com, gaystudlymales.com, wildrhino.com

I'm not much as far as internet forensics is concerned so if anyone wants to do any digging on who PimpProfits is and how they work, go for it.

I just happened to run across it in a very quick google search and felt it made a timely point so I'm here posting it.

Good luck to the winners.

.
What makes you think that it is the company that is up to no good? It is possible, very possible. However, could it not be just another surfer who stole the credit card number and used it to buy porn? And the company itself is another innocent victim of it as is the Cardholder? I don't know what the story is in this case. And I am sure that there are companies out there that do this kind of stuff. But, let us not assume anything without knowing the facts.

I run a mainstream dating site and we get people trying to use stolen credit cards on our site all the time. There is a huge cache of easily available stolen credit card numbers out there. When we catch them we refund the card, but sometimes we don't catch them and get hit with the chargeback + the chargeback fees + the possibility of our account being in jeopardy. The credit card companies are totally for the cardholders. The merchants are assumed they are guilty and have to try and prove themselves innocent.

Cool, and when someone needs to dispute a charge they received because someone fraudulently used their card, do you send them to a site that threatens them with:

Quote:

Who is AMACCESSORG And Why Are They Billing This Guy's Card

I'm still on page 1. This is great stuff. Here's one on Yahoo answers. I wouldn't worry too much about this one, hardly anyone is on Yahoo.

Let's play a game. Who can guess how many porn sites the poster of the message in the link below, will join ever again? I'm going with ZERO. Anyone else care to take a stab at it?

Score:
One Referring Webmaster: $100(Assuming it was a high PPS day. Shit, I hope it was. At least someone made $100 before we lost this surfer for eternity.)
Lifetime Lost Revenue For The Industry: Thousands

I am not seeing how programs/sites can't see that a message like that is like cutting off your own foot, it serves no purpose.

Scare them out of charging back and in turn scare them enough so they will never use their CC online again. That doesn't sound like a good plan to me!

This is really old but one line amused me:

Quote:
According to the court document, 40 percent to 50 percent of the people who called the number on their statement to complain about the charges did not even own a computer, nor had they released credit card information.
Hilarious

this one, amused me:

"According to the FTC, the defendants purchased a list of 3 million credit card numbers from Charter Pacific Bank of Agoura Hills, Calif., and illegally logged charges to many accounts."

so the banks are selling porn site operators credit card info?

LOL

Agreed SykkBoy2. But is it OK to then send them to a webpage with threatening verbage:

take a look around man, soooo many adult sites use fear tactics regarding cancelling a membership... including claiming it will stop them from being able to join other porn sites.

click customer service links on some sites and youll see...

So, it's OK to do it? Seriously, I'm asking. Do you feel it is OK to threaten a customer with verbage like that?

I dont agree with the practice, nor do I support it, however, I figured I would point out the fact that many do it, that text is copied and pasted on THOUSANDS OF SITES, do a google search ;)

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...&btnG =Search

in addition, even Sykboys customer pages have: "Charge backs not only hurt our industry, but it will also prevent you from joining other sites."

You cant argue or prove a point to those who actually take part in the practice, but those of us who notice the trend have long noticed it.

No, we don't. We usually catch the transaction before it gets to the charge back stage and refund the transaction. We have no problem refunding trnsactions that do indeed appear fraud. In fact, it is completely in our benefit to refund them before they become chargebacks as if they do, they will go against our history.

HOWEVER, there is another type of chargeback. And this is initiated by the user who has used our dating site and decided that now he wants his money back. These are 90% of our chargebacks. And yes, in those instances we do feel like sending them to a site like that! It is like walking into a restaurant, finishing your dinner, paying and then going home calling up the credit card company and requesting a refund.

Here is the deal, because we don't have a tangible product that is signed for on delivery, it is very easy for the customer to dispute the charges. There is NOTHING we can do with these types of chargeback. 90% of the time the customer wins, even though he knows he is scamming US. A lot of porn buyers have caught on to this trick. They will buy a membership, get what ever they want and then do a chargeback saying they never used the card. How are you going to prove he used it? The onus is on you to prove it. And you can't. So he gets his money back. These surfers are no angels either, trust me.

So, who is PimpProfits.com? I don't even know. I did a quick search on GFY but all it brought up was a bunch of "Spam me with...." threads.

Who is PimpProfits? Please tell me it's not a hahaha Program.

Anyone promote them? Are they at least paying you as a thank you for sending them people's credit card information?
