Setting monitor to 1680x1050 - need help.

Just got a new monitor and it says the best resolution is 1680x1050. I've installed the driver for it and the option doesn't show up in my settings. Any ideas? I'm searching google for an answer right now but figured someone here might have ran into this and be able to offer a suggestion.

I'm not sure. Is there a way to check? I went into the control panel/setting/advanced/adapter/list all modes and the option doesn't show up. The computer is only two years and half years old so I would hope it supports it....but maybe not.

My card on both comp shows it 1/2 of the time, it's really weird, I gotta play with it a little and it finally shows. It's like that on many computers from diff manifacturers.

The resolution is back to 1024 everytime I restart any of the 4 computers.

Hey Nate, did you try the latest video drivers too or just the monitor driver.

They update those video drivers all the time so you may need the latest one.

Should be able to find the video card chipset on the manufacturers website (i.e. dell.com) Then look up that driver on the video card makers website if it the manufacturer doesn't have it.

You may be able to go the device manager as well and it might list the actual device. Go to control panel>system>device manager then look under display adaptors. Once you know the make and model, just go the website and download it. All the video chipset makers have drivers available going way back.

You have a 22" widescreen... you need to have an onboard video card or EIDE/AGP video card that can handle that resolution.

i had that same problem with a 22 wide for my desktop, it was with an ati based card so reinstalled the drivers (entire catalyst suite) and still had the same problem. the fix was odd but just set it to max resolution, rebooted and then the option was there

According to the device manager I have an intel video card. I tried to install a different driver for it but it didn't help. I haven't tried the uninstall/reinstall so I'll have to give that a shot tomorrow. Thanks everybody for the tips so far. If anybody else has any ideas let me know.

You just need to create custom resolution. You can find it on settings of your card, after you create one you can see it on your windows desktop settings.
