I doubt anyone remembers "Dark Legions", but it was the first game I really obsessed over. It was vaguely chess-like, having to take out the other sides hidden orb-bearer (king) but used a point-buy system to customize your army and upgrade them. There were lots of units all with unique stats and different movement and fighting powers. Wish they still made games like that.

I never played Where In Space, but I probably would've loved it even more.

This is making me want to get my hands on a copy and play it again!

I loved the names of the criminals.

ETA: BAM! http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/43...+Sandiego.html

It was an almanac that came with them all. Before the internet it was the best place to find random facts.

And Jeopardy.

I can remember one of the answers to the jeopardy question being prostitution... and I was like 4.. and I thought it was prosecution... so I used to be like, "Daddy hurry spell prosecution.." then Id get it wrong.. and he'd be all weird that the real answer was prostitution...

I was too young to read most of the words.. so i'd play them for hours on end.. until I'd memorize what words/pictures went with what answers.

Those games made me the nerd I am today.

Always a green monitor and boy I forgot about Jeopardy. I loved that game and played it into the ground. I don't think there were that many 2e games around so the ones that came out I played for ages.

Don't get me started! I never got to play Loom because in order to play it you had to use a sort of decoder thing to enter a code to allow you into the game but my box didn't come with the decoder and the company refused to believe me and send one out.

I played all those Lucas Arts games but that one.

If we're talking arcades etc too, then of course Pong was the thing responsible for taking my quarters away from the pinball arcades on the boardwalk. Used to hitchhike at the bus stop and if we caught a ride, we could afford one more game :)

Before PC, just home video games.... Must have been Missile Command.

hehe inspired by this thread i searched D3 again.

There is a High resolution Pack available that also works on Vista. The Original Duke3D is needed then it can convert all maps to high quality and add a 4th episode. Nothing else changed (even the cheats work :D )

I got my first computer a bit later in life ... so my favorite back then was Hillsfar, a Dungeons and Dragons one. Nice mix of action and adventure.

Jack Sparrow 11-09-2008 04:52 PM

What about spacequest, who played it like me? :)

PornMD 11-09-2008 07:52 PM

Not sure which of these would have been first, but Alley Cat, Pro Manager, Test Drive, Jeopardy/Wheel Of Fortune/Family Feud on Dos, and Gunship are the first games I can remember liking a lot. Somewhat later games that I really liked too are Master of Orion, California Games, One Must Fall, Hexen, Heretic, and Mega Race. Old games rule. :)
