True h.264 Adobe Flash 3.0 Streaming released

the latest and greatest in streaming + theft protection, was released a few weeks ago. anyone have any experience with it?

Adobe Flash 3 supports H.264 video encryption, also known as MPEG-4 Part 10, or MPEG-4Advanced Video Coding, the latest standard for True High Definition Streaming. H.264 compresses video much more effectively than older standards and at substantially lower bit rates by using multi-picture inter-picture prediction, variable block-size motion compensation, quarter-pixel precision, and other technologies to encode video with approximately 3 times fewer bits than comparable MPEG-2 encoders.

To address the growing security concerns over content theft and ?Tube? site publishing, Adobe Flash 3 supports Encrypted RTMP streaming, which helps prevent stream ripping software from copying the file to offline locations. Additional features include FMS 3, known as SWF hashing (verification) by which a signature of the SWF file is created and used by the FMS server to ensure that the stream can only be deployed within the signed SWF file. This form of stream protection is very difficult for any stream ripping software to penetrate.

We have been encoding h.264 for a few years now, it's the best looking video at the smallest sizes.

This has been one of the most promising technologies to discourage the theft of content to date.

Its where content providers are going to have to concentrate on now, before it gets on a tube site and gets replicated to dozens of other sites.

Glad its finally out

No. The reason is the Atom Moov meta tag is set at the end of the video. You have to change that. Be glad to show you how to do that Rich if you need.

We are going to be rolling out some demo clips in the next week before Webmaster East. The Quality of the streams is impressive, and we can do live or on demand.

The process to do Encrypted streams as well as SWF validation is going to be a relatively simple one from our end, this will be the closest thing to a true DRM you are going to be able to get as a full service offering for a while. Adobe and Level 3 have done a lot of work together and some big name players in non adult have signed on to being anchor tenants on the service.

We also are very close to working out the details of a service which will do all the encoding for you to h.264 as it can be tricky and converting a decent sized library is no small task.

What does Mac have to do with that exactly? I know how to get a h.264 mp4 to play right away with out preloading first and I can do it on a GASP PC.

Yup and I can show you how to make a really great pie. It only takes me 3 hours or so and requires me to make the crust, and pie filling and bake it etc, eh fuck it Ill just go pay the bakery 8 bucks and save the 3 hours.. See If you think they are getting the same quality with a screen capture program I kind of doubt it.

Btw a simple thing that can be done is when encoding for h.264 use a different watermark than what you normally do for your other content. I bet you see very little of it on tubesites or on torrentsites.

I bet that less than 15% of the ripped off content out there came using a screen capture setup. IF that.

Will this be a service offered to your current CDn customers or will it be separate. I have to say this is very exciting technology that we are very interested in working with.

Its what needs to be done industry wide. Maybe the increased quality will give everyone reason to stop the "you get to keep the product even though you rented it" deal..

I'm not sure with this technology, but with other DRM solutions you can offer downloadable movies that remain protected. And a few of the dvd sites are running flash with no or less accessible, download options... the features are pretty extreme, just about kill the need for a download.

When we change over to h264, then we will also remove the download options, and see what kind of responds we get

We have offered a windows media DRM offering for quite a while, but it never really gained any traction, we still have it for anyone who is interested.

Delivering content in protected streams may not replace the existing model , but it certainly creates options.

If you're talking about FMS3, which I assume you are, don't get too excited.

You still can't record or stream live in h.264 - you're still stuck to FLV + NellyMoser [closed source audio]

Even more painfully, it still only supports Actionscript 1.0 on the server side.

FMS has always offered reasonably secure streaming.
Unfortunately, this is more hype than real.

that makes sense. and would affect programs like perfect gonzo, ND, etc less, because their product is differentiated more than tube content.

so i guess the ones with lower quality video would care more

You need to seek treatment for your piracy tourettes.

In fact, you just created a thread a week or so ago saying how you tried to rip music off of YouTube, but were forced to buy it instead because you didn't like the quality. You then went on to say that paysites need to offer quality materials to attract customers.

Here, you can answer that with your own post from your thread "PREMIUM CONENT VS GOOD ENOUGH CONTENT" on 05-03-2008:

There you have it. There is "good enough" for people who won't buy anyhow. AND, Premium. For the sophisticated audiophile. Please apply this to your adult bizness.

not talking about the cache.

im saying that anything can be ripped from the screen. anything. the quality will be good enough to upload to a tube or share easily.

i absolutely love this codec though and i commend its developers on the accomplishments alone in file sizes to quality.

i just downloaded 55 torrents of the newest movies on the planet, bought 11 tube sites, and snagged and ice cream cone from a 2 year old at the supermarket on the way home.
