FACT: There is no visible difference between 720p and 1080p

The difference can only be measured via oscilliscope.

the only thing natively encoded at 1080p(at the present) are Blu ray discs, and you will see the difference....if the screen is larger than 55. Otherwise, it's not discernable to the eye.

who ever told you that was selling you a line of shit... huge difference between the two.... don't think so... watch some real 1080p and see... I can bring a deck over hook up with hdmi into 1 then the other you will shit yourself in the difference

there is not enough room here for me to explain the difference ...

1 being over 2 million more pixel on 1080p rather than 1080i 720p

You can see a difference easily when watching fast moving scenes, say a football game or watching a golf ball roll down the fairway

haha!

I have a 720p projector with 106" widesceen.. I know that 1080p might look better with my PS3 blue ray but the way I see it not enough to shell out another $4k when in a few years there will be that 2160p and the 1080 will be that cheap too lol

I just got a nice 32" 720p LCD for bedroom, good enough for me and the price was great

Can see moving up to 1080p for bigger screen - 50" plus.

It will be a long time before I bother with blueray either though, once the movie stores have nothing but blueray then I'll switch

FACT: I give two shits!

I have a 720p Plasma, and a 1080p LCD. The LCD is prettier, because the scanlines are less noticable. At HD, though, it is fairly difficult to notice if you don't try to watch closely.. the Plasma is brighter, and has these annoying bits that burn in if left for seconds at a time.

$2k?? really?? I've seen them $3-6k and I never go for the cheapest in the bunch.. I have a Mitsubishi which is a medium level name brand in projectors.

The way I see it prices have been coming down and in 6 mos to a year a decent 1080p will come down and I'll upgrade

the 720p looks better than the 1080i, so im running it in that mode now

Why does everyone want to auto assume about someones income or personal wealth level whenever they say something against a more expensive option.

I know I have a 1080 in the bedroom and living room, and then a 720 in the spare room. I am not larger than 55 inches so maybe that is why. I just do not see much of a difference in picture quality though. Our 720 is a smaller TV though and I think maybe 38 inch or could be 40. I am at 50 inch in the bedroom and 48 in the living room (I think). I live in a small house so really anything bigger would just be fucking silly, as it is the TV in the bedroom is way to fucking big.

You're not getting a true comparison unless you are watching a 1080P source, i.e. blu-ray or one of the few 1080P native video games.

You would see the difference if you compared them side by side, but if I just pointed out a tv and asked you if it's 720 or 1080 just by looking at it, good chance you wouldn't be able to tell...

I use a 720p projector simply because how else can you get 100" or more for $1k or less? I love best buy clearances...

I believe you're right, you simply won't see a difference until you get into the big screen sizes. If somebody does the testing on a 32" they'd never be able to really see a difference.

Yeah, I've seen a few of the ones from this top ten list down around $2k either on sale and/or with rebates:

http://www.projectorcentral.com/home...projectors.htm

You could probably even find the Sanyo for less than $2K. It is very highly rated.

I never usually go for the cheapest of the bunch either but some of the lower priced ones are getting better reviews than some of the more expensive ones.

I have an Optoma projector right now and I'm hoping that the bulb goes so I can use that as an excuse to get a whole new projector.

It wasn't a shot at the OPs income or wealth. Obviously he got the info from somewhere else so it doesn't have anything to do with him really. I've read and seen plenty enough examples that do show the difference. Friend of mine just bought a 1080p projector, displays it on a 160 inch screen and you can "clearly" see the difference. Even on a 24 inch monitor I use I can see the difference although not by much on a screen this size. I guess I could've just said that though. ;)

And I'm all for not overpaying for stuff. Just look at macs, or most apple products. Seems like it's iSheep that buy that stuff mostly. iPhones are just toys and their computers are the same parts as what's in a PC. Same CPU, memory, drives, LCD Panels etc etc but people are willing to over pay for it. Someone could say it's the OS but the OS (overrated) can be installed on a normal PC.

Those are very shitty comparing to the better models. I have seen the comparison of a few models live, there are huge differences.
