Friend With Cancer...Five Months To Live
FUCK
Small cell lung cancer mestastized (sp) to brain cancer. He's 34 years old. He's receiving chemo and radiation, but the doctors give him 5 months tops. I'm getting a group of friends together to research any and all alternative therapies because at this point nothing can really hurt things further. So far, I've only really got Latrael (vitamin b17) which could very possibly be complete bullshit, but again it can't really hurt to try it. Now the question is where to get the shit that isn't fake. I need more ideas from you guys, please please. I want to try to save my friend's life. This is really heavy shit, sorry |

Try City of Hope in CA. I know this sounds crazy but chinese herbal medicine in some forms can stop the growth of cancer, it wont go away but it wont get worse. Sorry for your friend I hope this works out for him.

Wow, this timing is perfect. I listened to a program today with an inteview with David Servan Schreiber (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Servan-Schreiber). He's written a book called Anti Cancer (anticancerbook.com) in which he tells his tale of self diagnosing his own cancer. It's not a BS story or an affiliate tale, he's a real doctor who scanned his own head and found the malignant cancer in his brain. Anyway his book discusses the important of conventional medicine (radiation) and the strengthening of the bodies natural cancer defenses with natural stuff. Did you know, 1 in 3 people develop cancer? Scary. Also interesting is world panic over relatively low risk items such as SARs, avian flu, etc which have claimed < 100 lives and the passivity of the world on cancer - 33% of people will develop.

Sorry to hear it. Although a thought might be to tally up all the money you'd spend on quack medicine and actually use it for them to enjoy the last 5 months...
If I were a total bastard, I'd get into the alternative health anti cancer industry. No one will spend more money than someone trying to stay alive and buying hope in a bottle. I watched my father do it for his father last year, we still have all the pills and extracts. I can't say i'd be strong enough not to try it, as death is a powerful thing.. but dammit I hope i have the fortitude when the time comes to just enjoy what time I have left and keep the snake thief bastard cunts out of my wallet.. There is nothing lower. |

Maybe that sounds harsh.. I understand your desire.. Everyone feels the same. It's a normal ritual, do what you feel is right. Spend the time, do the research, it'll all help you emotionally that you're doing all you can.

I am not so sure telling him to accept it and be happy is really the answer. You are a good friend to help him fight it, and I think that is what he needs more than anything, hope, even if it is small, that he can fight it and go on. Perhaps you should look into finding specialists, etc in the traditional medical field and try and get him to develop a will to fight through it as opposed to going for alternative medicine or accepting his death? The latter may be unavoidable in the end, but I think offering some hope of being by his side and fighting with him will be a lot more inspiring to him. Wish the best for him, this life can be rough.

My mother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and was given 3 months. She actually lived 3 good years doing experimental cancer treatments through University of Penn hospital in Philadelphia. She never lost her hair or got excessively ill from the treatements. It wouldnt hurt to ask his care providers what other methods they may have available that might still be in the experimental stages.

The doctor told my mother she would never survive the chemo, but she went through it and the doctor calls her a miracle and that has been ten years now.
My mother did everything the doctor asked of her and did alot of praying. Look into Cancer treatment Centers of America www.cancercenter.com/ |

I really can't imagine going skydiving, partying with friends, or whatever "living to the full" (entails) is really going to make him happier about his situation, if anything I think it would make it harder for him to accept and be ok with the thought of dying. Unfortunately I don't know much about cancer treatment to add there, but don't give up. |

You said you were looking for anything so.... DCA
They've had good results with lab tests and the drug/compound is already approved for other treatments. Some people are claiming success using this. Here's a site with some of the latest news on dca. It also has a forum where people share there stories. http://www.thedcasite.com/ |

a vegan diet and absolutely no alcohol is all I can suggest.
I have numerous cases of cancer in my family, and the only patterns I have found through experience is the survivors didn't eat animal products (hormones encourage the growth) or drink alcohol (accellerates the metastasizing). And of course no cigarette smoking. cancer is a malfunctioning of the cells when your body doesn't have enough healthy anti-oxidants to kill the bad cells. Our bodies fight this process off everyday. Much luck to your friend, I don't trust doctors and their experiments, it killed my mother faster with their poisonous "treatments," but to each their own. (she died from breast cancer spread to the lungs at age 38) |

disease can't grow when your body pH is alkaline so an alkaline diet is very important. look into homeopathy remedies. definitely look into hyperbaric oxygen therepy (HBOT). not that these will cure the cancer but slow the growth and prevent from spreading.
good luck!! my prayers are with you and your friend....

A complicated, but very well detailed description of this aggressive bugger of a cancer. Impossible to tell someone, because where there's hope.... but it really really doesn't look good.

hormones encourage the growth This is true, but a cancer cell is already growing uncontrollably. You cannot stop it from growing, although *if* you could cut of all hormones to it (your own natural ones included), you would kill it. cancer is a malfunctioning of the cells when your body doesn't have enough healthy anti-oxidants to kill the bad cells No - anti-oxydants help to prevent damage to DNA caused by free radicals. Every cell in our body goes throw hundreds of thousands mutations each and every day. The cell has a mechanism to detect and repair them. It occurs and is repaired by/during DNA synthesis. Free radicals on the other hand accelerate DNA damage to a level where our repair mechanism cannot cope. Anti-oxydants "mop up" free radicals, which is a Good Thing? Our bodies fight this process off everyday. Yup, and our body fights potential cancer cells everyday too - it's called the immune system. It can recognise a rogue cell and destroy it. The most successful anti-cancer treatment to date was published 3 months ago, where a guy with metastases all over his body had blood removed, white cells grown in the lab specifically to detect the cancer cell, then the amplified blood re-injected into him. His own cells attacked and killed all trace of his cancer. Paper was published 5 years after his treatment and the guy is cancer free still. And of course no cigarette smoking. Cigarette smoke is like free-radicals. It accelerates DNA damage. The damage is done if you have cancer. Stopping smoking will not in any way shape or form help your cancer to be treatable at all...
