Read this tonight but have not checked the accuracy of it yet: UPDATE: Career voting records: Currently, Senator Obama has voted 94 times to raise taxes. Senator McCain has NEVER voted to raise taxes. |
I'm out for the night but I really enjoyed the debate by all!
Sleep well :) |

The 700 billion you refered to is the figure put forward by Pickens about the transfer of wealth because of buying oil.... not foreign aid. Thx for confirming being in the 95%.:thumbsup |

I'm more than happy to debate the issues, but let's keep it real and not take our talking point directly from McCain radio commercials or Rush Limbaugh. There haven't even been 94 votes on taxes since Obama has been in the Senate. Go to factcheck.org, or politifact.com and check out the truth. If everything I knew about Obama was stuff I'd heard from McCain, I probably wouldn't like him very much either. Obama's tax proposals are as follows. Income taxes on people making over 250K per year go back up to what they were under Bill Clinton. Everyone else gets a tax cut. Capital gains and dividend taxes will go back to what they were under Bill Clinton, but they will be indexed so that people who make less than 250K per year don't have to pay them. The estate tax will remain, but will have between a 2 and 5 million exemption before a dime is paid. This means only a fraction of the top 1% of estates will be subject to the tax. Maybe you like McCain's tax policies better, and that's fine, but you don't have to lie about what Obama would do or lie about his voting record. It doesn't make anyone here more likely to vote for your guy, it just makes you look silly. |

Not only do charitable organizations ensure that money gets to where it's needed, Americans give many more billions in donations than government foreign aid. "U.S. foreign aid from private sources totaled $71.2 billion in 2004, a sum more than 3 times greater than the foreign aid the U.S. government provided that year" - http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/...-110443-6013r/ "Americans increased their charitable donations significantly in 2006 to more than $295 billion -- a record, according to a study released June 25 by the Giving USA Foundation, which reports on charitable contributions." - http://www.america.gov/st/washfile-e...0.8012354.html "In 2005, Americans donated more than $95 billion to the developing world. That isalmost four times what the U.S. government gives in foreign aid and many times morethan what Europeans give in public and private donations, according to a study by theHudson Institute, to be released next month." - http://72.14.205.104/custom?q=cache:...n&ct=clnk&cd=1 |

I never ever said it was a fact. I work smart, not hard. I pose the question and let others do the research to prove/disprove the statements made in the link :) Morning Folks! |

You come into a political debate and make assertions when you don't know whether or not they're true, and then you say you expect other people to do research to prove or disprove what you say....how can you expect anyone to take anything you say seriously, and why would anyone want to have a discussion with you? I'm done here....last post from me in this thread. |
Saw this on quote of the day, in my goog/ig, and figured it was quite fitting.

I don't have the time to go through all of Obama's voting history and made clear that I hadn't checked the accuracy of the statement. I got what I wanted by making the post - to put a few Democrats to work verifying the accuracy for me. :1orglaugh Now that you're done posting in the thread, that will free up some of you time. http://www.opencongress.org/people/v...9_barack_obama Go through them all and report back to me. :321GFY |
