Begging for money, a gift or a loan??

From time to time i am confronted with threads about people who are in the darkest moments of their life, and start a thread, and make suggestive comments they need some green to get on their feet again.

Is this money they generate a GIFT or a LOAN?

I think myself that we sell porn, it is a fucking multi million dollar industry, so when you need to beg for money, you do something wrong, on these conditions a BANK would not even give you one dollar, what makes GFY so special that sometimes people do this here, and start a "begging" thread?

I like to see some comments on this

Big_D got a job out of it, enough to pay back his ticket to Romania i guess. But he is still in the United States. Not sure, he never went public with this. As long he does his work, he is part of the scene. No bad word about him in this thread from me

More Magic added Paul to the list, from that thread i know he offered content for sale. And i am not sure how much he sold, but he offered nice discount. He probably sold enough to keep going. I am happy his wife made a speedfull recovery!!!

That answering your question, i would still love to know if these are all GIFTS or LOANS, if those are gifts, I would suggest that people give out STOCKS of their website. You Help, you get 5% of my website STOCK. and monthly you can make a nice dollar back on the LOAN you gave him. Business is Business... I would for sure help then, taking profit of some drama when your able to stop his drama is not a bad thing. You help, you get refunded life time in stock value, and then helping out is not something to feel bad about.

When you help someone out, and he/she comes on his feet again, would you feel used when you gave him a gift, but not get anything back? Or would you feel part of his life? And how is this to see back?

I personaly think when someone shouts out loud he is in need of money, he should sell space on his/her site, placed under the categorie TOPFRIENDS. Or make a deal with the new BOSS that this boss holds back a certain amount of money for those who helped him/her out.

nevertheless, i never gave anyone a penny, but i see people doing it, so i ask those, were those LOANS or GIFTS?
Are you deducting this gift from your TAX? Would the one who receives this gift obligated to PAY tax on this?

OK, so it is a charity, but when you donate money to a charity you expect that the money is spend on a way you can verify. Charities should make the spending of gifts PUBLIC

Dagwood was the worst. You can beg people to pay your bills once and probably get away with it, but it was an ongoing thing with him for quite awhile.

If you can't afford to give someone money as a gift, then just don't do it. If you make it a loan, it's going to end up costing you way more in aggravation and lost friendships/relationships and time, than the money would ever be worth.

Well personaly it wouldnt be problem to give someone money if that person come to me and honestly explain why he needs money.But in most cases people perform scams rather instead simply asking.

To go with original poster, yes taxes had to be paid on the amount. One company (lovesexycash.com) paid a lump sum whom also invoiced me as an advertising expense.

Clarification to another poster - Someone else (you can dig up thread) decided to hold a sig auction for my benefit. People here donated their sigs for a period of time and lovesexycash.com purchased them all in one lump sum. Though I have also gone over the details at least 5 times on here since then and was one of the main reasons I even tried to back out during the original auction. Quick answer will be no the chair has not been purchased yet due to 3 factors. The waiting list is huge, I would need to go through one additional surgery before I could use it which my doctor wishes me to hold off on for now, and three being I did not expect to end up with bladder cancer in December which is the reasoning behind number 2. Now the money has been sat aside and lovesexycash really does not care what I do with it, yet I will use it as intended. By the way they will be in Atlanta and I suggest you do look them up.

All kind of losers beg/create lies so that people give them money for free on the net.

Remember that girl that spent like 30k on her credit card on stupid shopping shit and people donated because she wasn't able to pay back?

Seriously I would help out a friend, but why would you "help out" someone you don't know that is much likely just there to scam you. I bet about 10% of those donate threads are really legitimate.

And for the answer, never saw someone giving the money back.

BTW, I was one of the people who donated his sig for ASM. Now, the sig thing did not happen exactly after the bid was placed and I was not active on this board when it did, so can someone please tell me the sig placement was for how long and please give me a banner so I can honor my sig donation?

You can go to www.lovesexycash.com and get a button, I am not positive if they still are a top advertiser anymore so unsure if you can use the full banner. Most donated it for a month, some longer and some shorter. That was just the average.

Now onto the poster commonsense who decided to just list a few people saying they asked or begged for money. Not all of them asked nor begged which I find a bit distasteful. Also seems you have left a whole shit load off the list whom I will not even bring up as it does not matter. No one has ever been forced into giving anything to anyone here.

I can say Tala out right scammed many people, and over a thousand of that was from me. I also seem to recall that Paul just held a sale and some others offered up to do donations. If memory serves me Big D was left stranded by his job with no money etc and was looking for work/help and again someone else offered to assist him. Then there are at least 4 or 5 people that I can think of not listed that are very well known that have asked for assistance and that I and many others gladly gave it to them. After that there are a many more who I can not even recall the names of that asked for help on here over the years.

When it comes to friends, people are more motivated to help.

Yes, i would help when there is a situation that is far beyond imagination, like the case of the special wheel chair for a guy, last year, or the year before that. I did donated 25 Bucks to this, I complete forgot who this person was, i did read it on a site he placed in his sig, and as i recall he was listing those who donated on a website he was hosting, something like that is more then normal to do. I am not sure who this was, but this is one of the rare cases I donated. This on the side, it was gifted with pleasure. I seem to be more helpfull when it is a situation that is beyond human mistakes so to say. I never updated myself what the outcome was of this thread, just cause i donated and closed the case for myself on that same day, the thread, situation was real, and never kept me busy.

Accidents, health ( disability, need for tools, medication ) , disaster by nature... those 3 are for sure situations that make me donate. And I do not expect then a pay back, it is a gift, cause it is part of being human, helping out.

A few years ago, somewhere in 2002, someone was not able to pay for the hospital bill, and it affected the quality of treatment he received. He did a thread elsewhere and received more then he needed to pay. He paid without hesitation the money back before it was even mentioned.

I also recall me JimTheFiend, who hit me up many times on Yahoo, asking for money, cause he could not pay for his medicines, he said he was suffering on cancer and needed meds to pay. I decided to buy his worthless sig for 1 month, 1 week after that he got banned. He was active on a other board, but never thought about furfilling his SIG obligation there. But thats Jimthefiend, a everlasting asshole.
Last news on his is that he is building a house and he marriages this year with a nice girl. I never heard from him anything back about his HEALTH situation. you would say he would update his friends from time to time to report he would be cured or something, but no no, not a word on that, so he might keep that in the dark because he was complete lying his ass of.

So Jim if you read this, could you please tell me, and others, anywhere how your cancer is doing? Your life seems to be back to normal, about to marriage with a girl, building a house with your own hands ( as those are you words ) did you used a Cancer story cause your life was so fucked up, you could blame it on that one? And people would have more consideration for your begging for money?

Anyway, to not drift of, helping here is not a bad thing, when the story the poster will come with is based on something that is to verify. Special cases that involve health, accidents ( like Paul his wife ) and disasters ( hurricanes, vulcanizations, tsunamis, etc etc ) deserve attention.

About paying back donations done by posters who do not fall under above 3 categories, i also still have to read the first one. It would give me so much JOY to read that from time to time, so GFY gets a more moral meaning also, it is GOOD to read people thanking for gifts, and saying in public also HOW this money was SPEND!... This would HONOR those who have decided to gift money in a situation that is not even so bad.

I still need to see the first thread on GFY where someone pays the TO MUCH money back to those who donated cause he was helped out 10 donations ago already, but the thread generated more then expected.

To those who were able to post today on this subject, many thanks. It is important to separate begging from those who CRY OUT for a helping hand.

The begging people destroy it for those who really need it. A general cold wind appears then as soon a thread starts with not a begging intention, but a ask for human help.

i think that it would just be a gift or a donation. if someone wants a loan, they will specifically ask for a loan and probably make sure there was some signed paperwork on said loan. A gift or a donation is just done out of kindness with no expectation of getting anything in return.

Special cases that involve health, accidents ( like Paul his wife ) and disasters ( hurricanes, vulcanizations, tsunamis, etc etc ) deserve attention. About paying back donations done by posters who do not fall under above 3 categories, i also still have to read the first one. It would give me so much JOY to read that from time to time, so GFY gets a more moral meaning also, it is GOOD to read people thanking for gifts, and saying in public also HOW this money was SPEND!... This would HONOR those who have decided to gift money in a situation that is not even so bad. I still need to see the first thread on GFY where someone pays the TO MUCH money back to those who donated cause he was helped out 10 donations ago already, but the thread generated more then expected. To those who were able to post today on this subject, many thanks. It is important to separate begging from those who CRY OUT for a helping hand. The begging people destroy it for those who really need it. A general cold wind appears then as soon a thread starts with not a begging intention, but a ask for human help. Nowadays, when I do donate something, 99% of the time the person never asked for anything.
