I have found in life when the shoe fits the other foot then things are fine only when things do not work out in whatever situation then it becomes woe.
Besides do not be surprised if the person whomever was in a clever disguise well aware of the situation and was just out for a ride that night.

You're right. In fact let's let all thieves and criminals off the hook. Anyone who says they're sorry get's a free pass.

Let's all live consequence free.

V_RocKs 08-11-2008 11:49 AM

Want to know who it is?

Just look to the left...

LAJ 08-11-2008 11:51 AM

You can relax folks.

I already suggested earlier in this thread that I was going to out the guy once I have absolute proof. The door has shut on option #1.

Meanwhile, the damn waiter is off for the next few days... of course :(

Deej 08-11-2008 12:03 PM

Douche Baggery!!!

I was told about this type of thing at my second show. All you have to have is a room number and make a decent effort at signing and there you are...

However, that's not my style.

I hope to see some incriminating proof in here :thumbsup

DollarKing 08-11-2008 12:06 PM

Cdsmith u sound like a very liberal anything goes type of person to me put the breaks on please!
The word criminal is used as a very loose term in society and used to suit whatever's best for the situation and persons concerned thankyou very much.

Varius 08-11-2008 12:11 PM

As it seems something like this happens just about ever show, the smart thing to do is when you get your room, tell them to disable 'charging to the room'. They can do this easily for you. True, it sucks to need to be carrying cash with you at all times, especially in the pool/hot tub (my money and passport are still drying off heh) but you can def avoid situations like this.

Being hard line zero tolerance on crookery and thievery and lowlife douchebaggery is liberal thinking in your world? Where is this bizarro world you live in again? I want to visit it, and take pictures of the locals for a bizarro blog I'm doing.

Sorry friend, but someone forging your name and charging their expenses to your hotel room is criminal activity in any society except bizarro land. Anyone doing it deserves what Jay is now determined to do to them.

Are you related to Ned Flanders by any chance?

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 08-11-2008 12:13 PM

Ya know folks...
One should expect this kind of thing at the shows these days.
Lets be honest with each other for a sec. The trade shows are filled with loser's, Dregs wannabe's and thieves. Consider yourselves lucky no one got shot at this show.

Because I am callin it, someday there will be some fruit cake with a gun at a show and someone is going to get hurt. For now let's be glad they are just stealing money here and there.

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 08-11-2008 12:15 PM

I am also waiting for the first drug over dose drama.

Wait we already had a few over doses at shows so lets up it to Fatal Overdose.

:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

Luckily passports are pretty tough.

pocketkangaroo 08-11-2008 12:21 PM

Haven't seen it mentioned, but has anyone considered that it was an inside job. A guy on the staff mentions to some of his friends there is a porn show at the hotel, his friends come out and they tell them to charge the stuff on another room's tab. If you had been charging a lot of stuff to the room throughout your stay, they may have just figured it would have been glossed over on your part.

Might be a little far fetched, but as someone who has worked at a nice hotel when he was in college, I can tell you that this kind of stuff does happen.

Imortyl Pussycat 08-11-2008 12:25 PM

sorry to hear about this Jay, makes it a bit tougher just to relax and enjoy yourself at these events. hope you find the douchebag and get him banned from all other events (to say the least).

Torn Rose 08-11-2008 12:30 PM

Fuck them LAJ, let them explain it to the Judge.

theharvman 08-11-2008 12:31 PM

So sorry to hear that Jay. I say we give the guy an old fashion blanket party in the parking lot. You bring the Knee High Gym Socks I will Bring a few dozen rolls of quarters. :)

Miss Munki 08-11-2008 12:34 PM

That's some fucked up shit, I hope they come through with the footage in a timely manner. You may have to post the pics here if you don't recognize the guy...GFY Justice System...not something to fuck with:Oh crap

Elli 08-11-2008 12:34 PM

That sucks bigtime, Jay. So sorry to hear this happened to you. :( I must say that whenever I charged stuff to my own room at the cafe in the hotel or the pool bar, I was never asked to show any kind of ID whatsoever or even to show a room key. I thought that was a little lax of the staff.

PainThing 08-11-2008 12:40 PM

thats really the bottom of the barrel and regardless I would press full charges.. impersonation, theft, fraud, etc...send the cocksuckers to the big house and let em be recipients of an anal drilling

RobAlbaugh 08-11-2008 12:41 PM

Frankly, I dont see the hotel coming through with the footage. You were credited the money back so the hotel is on the hook for the loss, which they will easily write off. It will be great if they do provide footage but the chances of them going through all of this trouble for cost of food, is unlikely. Be happy you got the perks without having to dispute it with your CC company.

But definitely sure 110% sure before you out someone otherwise the lawsuit you would be facing may cost you everything.

Do you raise this point to the staff or management?

This is a job for:

CurrentlySober 08-11-2008 12:53 PM

One good thing that *may* have come out of all this, is that when I hit the Radisson in Amsterdam, the first thing I will do, is to disable charging to room upon check in...

If Im doing it, and no doubt others do it too, despite the inconvenience, it will help to avoid it happening again

If you have the surveillance picture you best post it here, find out who it is and press charges!

Or you will suck just as bad as he does!

Most of GFY will feel how I do.

Alky 08-11-2008 01:08 PM

Not sure I would go posting someones picture like that if you get it.... how would you know 100% it's them?

Trixxxia 08-11-2008 01:33 PM

I think it's pathetic someone stoops that low for a damn lunch.

It's either the staff or someone in the industry if the 'industry only' rule remained for the show.

A-Bomb 08-11-2008 01:49 PM

Sorry man to hear about that! You're a great guy and I think a little too lenient to even gracious to even offfer that Option #1!

AK 08-11-2008 02:10 PM

Bump for Jay.
We finally arrived in CA at 10:30 PM Jay.
What a long and exhausting trip for me.

My bet it was Dennis Rodman cuz that guy is wacko to begin with.

Good call on Rodman. He tried to walk away from his one bar tab. : )

They don't ask to see any ID or room key though, which I find odd. It's rather easy to charge another person's room.

Sorry Jay that sucks. I hope he takes option #2 though too ...

shermo 08-11-2008 02:15 PM

It never ends, does it?

Sorry to hear this happened to you :(

wyldblyss 08-11-2008 03:16 PM

I don't recall being asked to see a key, ID or anything of the sort when I have traveled and charged things to my room and often times it was several hundred dollars or more at a time. They really should require something to verify identification.

DollarKing 08-11-2008 03:22 PM

Your comments cdsmith not mine but my rants you were suppose to take from a philosophical viewpoint.
LAJ why dont you type a list of the menu items and price of what your mystery friend tried to charge to your account ?
Why all the whining you never had to pay for it anyway it proves what i said about it turning into a personal vendatta against this person.
After that then we can debate over the prices and whether they are criminal in themselves etc.

Why 08-11-2008 03:35 PM

the same fucking thing happened to me two years ago in miami and the westin ended up doing nothing about it at all. billed shit to our room and were also apparently claiming to be the 'owners of silvercash' down by the pool. which is actually how we found out about it.

Dez 08-11-2008 03:43 PM

That really sucks Jay. I bet it was Juicy D! Wait nevermind you would have seen charges for male escorts on the reciept :)

BV 08-11-2008 03:45 PM

I wonder why the Westin doesent swipe the key if you charge it to the room?

They obviously have the snack bar inventory down to a science.

papill0n 08-11-2008 03:52 PM

fuck someone people are scum

Dafne 08-11-2008 04:00 PM

Sorry to hear about the mishap at the internext, Jay. I really hope you find this loser so we can help you humiliate him publicly.

That's a lesson to all. Constantly check your credit card activity for any fraud, this way things get catch and handle right away.

Tjeezers 08-11-2008 06:50 PM

:thumbsup thanks for sharing
Ehhh for the story that is.:winkwink:

And im not in for a public humiliation, no time for that, to much work on my hands
But i see you have a large group offering their best skills on that.

Evil Chris 08-11-2008 07:35 PM

Sheriff Bunnell has all rights to the surveillance tapes. :)

trishauptown 08-11-2008 07:48 PM

Dude that SUCKS!!!

tony286 08-11-2008 08:37 PM

Sorry that happened, from working in a hotel when I was young. I figure the waiter will get popped for the whole thing. The hotel should tighten their security. With all the fucking that goes on in our industry and people are surprised when things like this happen?

Just Mike 08-11-2008 08:53 PM

Sorry to hear that Jay. I can't believe people would jepordize their rep for a few bucks.

Anthony 08-11-2008 08:54 PM

This sucks to hear, no one should have to go through this, and it's not even the money that's the issue. I know I saw a charge at the cafe for 100 something that didn't look familliar, but I had so many meetings in there, that it could have been one that slipped my mind.

If this person's identity is found, it should be posted. I personally would have started a thread after the person was caught, and charged to out them. Giving them a chance to make it right sounds something out of an old western movie.

JaneB 08-11-2008 08:57 PM

Damn LAJ is one of the nicest people in adult. That sucks someone would do this to him. :(

GTS Mark 08-11-2008 08:59 PM

Fuck sorry to hear about your luck Jay!

Spunky 08-11-2008 08:59 PM

Damn weasels everywhere, surprised it doesn't happen more often

BluMedia 08-11-2008 09:43 PM

That is fucked up. I hope you figure out who did it.

Mark

They did ask for a last name...this is what stopped me from charging a steak dinner to your room. Apparently, clever girl, your last name isn't really 'Nude'.
