Save Budwiser! Anheuser-Busch agrees to $52B takeover!
okay Anheuser-Busch agrees to $52B takeover by from Belgian brewer InBev. Making it Anheuser-Busch-InBev
I'll say it - this is WRONG WRONG WRONG! I don't know but it seems to me that this is not a good thing! Can someone explain to me how a Belgian company buys Americas #1 brewer and it's not only the money leaving the US. Personally I think global thinking is good for business but... Budwiser is so an over the top american Icon. I can't think of anything more American then Anheuser-Busch, Few products are more American then Budweiser. Its Clydesdales, Super Bowl ads, the label is red, white and blue, with an eagle swooping through the "A" - Busch racing - Budwiser is in every racing sport I can think of from nascar to NHRA to Bikes - It Sports - Its America! So I have to give a big WTF on this one! ![]() http://savebudweiser.com/ |

Deal has been done for two weeks. There is no saving anything. The ink is dry.
I am happy its gone to In-Bev, home of real beer. Stella Artois. Belgium is the kingdom of amazing beer. Hopefully they'll take the trailer trash out of the recipe. LOL. |

While Anheuser-Busch has agreed to the deal at $70 a share deal 2 weeks ago, It's still not a done deal. Not only does the SEC have to approve the sale but the share holders get to vote. Also it seems "Anheuser-Busch owns a 50% share in Grupo Modelo, which said in a statement that its relationship with Anheuser-Busch gives it consent rights to the deal." http://money.cnn.com/2008/07/14/news...v.ap/index.htm |

I don't know if you guys are aware, but Ambev, from Brazil, controls the Inbev holding.
So Budweiser is being bought by a Brazillian company, not a Belgium one. ![]()

Besides Miller beer is already owned by a South African company. What difference does it make if Bud is owned by a foreign entity? |

Also, Bud might not be exactly an all American beer. Their recipe for the beer originally came from Czech Republic.

America can buy German but Germany can not buy American??
What I find even funnier is how most of the yanks that I've asked hate the beer (tastes worse than piss), yet they are fervent about attempting to block the sale. I for one am looking forward to the new DasBudBowl commercials, which will have leather and vinyl clad subbies lapping DasSuds from DasBooties!! |

I worked for Coors for about 3.5 years up in Redwood City. TBH I think that the sale is a good thing for Budweiser. It will open many doors for them that may appear to be open now but are not. In-Bev will add positively to it's image. I don't for see any issues from the shareholders approval process. Time will tell though. |

A lot of "Imports" we drink are not actually Imports at all and even brewed and bottled here - The same is true here as else where - Thats like McDonalds - food may be the same all over the world but it's not all shipped from the US very much the reverse mostly. As I already said I'ts not about the beer it's about the Icon being American! While as Paco noted "What I find even funnier is how most of the yanks that I've asked hate the beer" Bud sales reresnt 48% of beer sales in the US. So ask more yanks! My point is/was - Things like Bud and Anheuser-Busch are American Icons (yes Busch and Anheuser came to america with it)- And it would seem for sale if the price is right! Forget the beer - forget where - I'ts like if a company ran Thanksgiving - And some Japanise Company wanted it - Then the Board sells it to Japan for seems a profit and they cash out with big fat pay days - They are selling a tradition a way of life - Yeah so fuck it! lets sell it all go to a New World Order! |

That's the problem, so many companies have left America and the poor workers lost everything.
Hershey's and Levi and now Bud all gone and it has devistated many working people and really made the economy even weaker. |

I have to agree 100% - Funny how people are like, yeah but it's better in the long run - In the mean time there are millions of people in the US that lost jobs over this very kind of take over - and they are fucked or in early retirement - I know a few personally and yeah it suck's to get the shaft!
