:mad Server Company Screwing Me

I am using "S E V E R W I Z A R D S". I have two managed dedicated servers and they are still charging me $75/month for extra managment.

They charge me these prices for a Master and a GURU, plus $75 per month per server or additional management.

Does anyone else have servers with them?

What are you paying?

I had friend get a quote and they quoted their Listed Prices, When I ask what is wrong they say their listed prices are obsolute and subject to change. They have not changed for over a year.

those prices are listed as a managed server.

You shouldn't be paying anything extra on top of those prices.

You should check out Nat Net, best host i have had in my 10 yrs of experience.

Also, they say their Data Center will shut down the servers if I do not pay this bill. Last month after I was double billed I had to struggle with them to get it resolved. After a PayPal dispute they paid up but not all at once. Four separate payments.

I made a request to get 5 domains moved from one server to another. That was last month also I do not have a working Cpanel on one of the servers. Still nothing has been done after 10+ requests and constant tickets concerning any updates on the problem.

When I sent them the recent quote (that a friend sent to them) that showed they were lying to me they sent this bullshit answer:

That quote for Gary was for a server that was to be placed in different datacenter here in Chicago. We haven't used their services yet but Gary's request for a server was first one for a very long time. If he went for it we'd try them out. They use cheap bandwidth and we could afford lowering the fee there.

what sucks is that it is a very painful experience to have all my information moved to new servers, and they know that.

I have billing through 2000charge, Verotel, and CCBill. Every server company has always had problems moving the members area and the protected remote billing scripts. This usually leaves me with day of billing down time.

It shouldn't be a painful experience at all. When moving over to us... your environment should be stable and tested before a live switch is made. Again, being a managed host... we take the "pain" out of it. Maybe we could discuss the billing issues you've had in the past when moving hosts... but a day of downtime certainly seems excessive to say the least. In the past did your new host work with the billing providers during the move? Planning on the part of your host is key to ensure things don't go awry.

With a quality host a move does not have to be a pain and you do not need to have any downtime. You should check out a High End host like TechieMedia, mojohost, isprime etc.... These are all top notch companies to be at and you will never go through the nightmare that you are now.

You can move everything server to server using SSH ( I take for granted that you have root access on those dedicated box ). As for billing, it can be looked at by the companies after your data is transfered but before the new server goes live. Scripts ( cms probably ) the same; in fact, for scripts it is mainly to provide the new IP address to the script company so that the access to their servers for verification of licence returns positive.

Move now, because this is like a cancer : it will not get better.

Also, the bs answer they gave you on your ticket shows that they are at the low end of reseller status, shopping AROUND for boxes to resell to you.

Phatservers can do this in less than an hour. They had me all going very quickly.

Debbie as mentioned above several times the host you are with are scum basically and small time resellers at best. You need to move to a Real host with a long proven track record for excellent pricing and even more important than price is Support. I can recommend www.techiemedia.com as 1 of the absolute best in the biz. I have been with several of the so called best hosts that post here and about 3 yrs ago I had issues, so i was recommended to techieMedia here on gfy and ever since I moved to them ALL my hosting problems went away. I now focus on making money and never even need to think about hosting. Give Jim a hoot and see what he can do. Good Luck

thanks again everybody, I had to pay them or have my servers shut down by noon today with all my information held for ransom. The tens of thousands of TGP gallery posts would all have been 404 and I would have lost an enormous amount of longterm traffic.

The said they would wave the management fee (but would not admit to over-billing this last 13 months) and move all domian from the Master to the GURU series.

I was with JFPdude until his passing, unfortunately I had sent him my harddrives due to failure to extract files and now have little in way of backup for my servers at my office now.

If they shut my servers down I have no recouse but to pay them until I can get this stuff moved off their system.

Worse yet is that my Land Development company, and my daughters real estate managements business are on these servers with sales contacts and all corporate email accounts.

You NEED to have your data on backup ... What happens if the server drives fails or if that company dissapears.

You could start by moving your Land Dev and daughters stuff to a virtual on one of my boxes. I can do that for you.
Then move next week your sites to a reputable host. I can offer my services, but choose any that posted here and you will be ahead of the game. Now, you are the underdog.

So it sounds like they're basically tech guys that resell you a server from another company? You would be far better off going with a host that can offer management, get rid of one level of markup, incompetence, delays etc...
