Obama to choose VP...Who do you think it will be?

In the next couple of weeks, Obama is going to be chosing his VP. Who would you like to see in the position and why?

The Governator - Arnold....he is only Republican in name only and married to a Kennedy.

What are your thoughts???

Main problem with Arnold is that he was not born in the US, and therefore is not eligible to be El Presidente...

Hillary...very possible - remember, we're talking the Democratic party here.

Al Gore...ain't gonna happen, although he could be a significant factor in the outcome.

I'm guessing either John Edwards or Bill Richardson - you heard it here first...

JOE BIDEN.....

The others just dont make sence. No Richardson, not sure if you noticed he's Mexican... No Edwards, the guy cant even carry his state. No Arnold, that just sounds stupid. And no Hillary she's way too damaged and unlikable.

The only one that makes sence is Biden. Watch it happen.

JOE BIDEN...

im no political expert by any means, but its my understanding is that since he's not eligible to become president, he's not eligible to be VP.. actually i think Governor is the highest elected post he can achieve...

Obama will take pity on Emmanual Lewis for having to sit on Wacko Jacko's lap all those years...he'll be appointed the next VP.

Tom Daschle. Former Senate Majority/Minority leader for many years. He also almost ran for President this year but instead got behind Obama early on before 99% of people even know who Obama was.

There is some speculation about Senator Jim Webb, a moderate Democrat from Virginia, a Naval Academy grad, who was a decorated Marine that served in combat in Vietnam, and served as Secretary of the Navy under Reagan. Webb also has a son in the military that has served in Iraq.

His military background would blunt to some extent McCain's edge on military issues.

I think it'll be Hillary.

You can pretend all you want that it's true that race doesn't play a part and we're all knowledgeable citizens whose only concern are the issues, but Obama is the first real shot of having a "black" man elected President and calling him a "black" man proves my point. He's multinational but most people judge his race based upon his skin color. He was born in Hawaii but no one calls him a Hawaiian.

Hillary is the first real shot of having a woman elected President.

There are plenty of Democrats that want a woman in office - but not a black man and there are plenty of Democrats what want a black man in office but not a woman - so even when a nominee is finally chosen, it doesn't mean that the nominee will gain the others supporters.

There are tons of people that don't want a black man or a woman in office - which gives John McCain an incredible edge. He can almost keep his mouth shut and let Obama and Hillary kill each other and win over those Democrats whose nominee wasn't chosen over to his side all but ensuring his being elected the next President of the United States.

A major way to counter that is for Hillary or Obama to choose the other as their VP and keep those votes on the side of the Democratic ticket.

Even though their candidate didn't win the Democratic nomination, the person they supported would be the VP and the front runner for President in a future election - keeping the dream alive that their "race" or "gender" would eventually take office.

honestly, i dont think america is ready for a woman and a black at the same time... if the dems want to win, they are going to need a ticket that can unite the racist or feminist dems..

i have heard that some of the exit polls have shown that if a dem voters candidate doesnt win the nomination, they will vote republican... that shows how divided the party is and how things really havent improved over race and sex relations...\

its sad really....

its a shame that there isnt a stronger republican candidate.. if have a bad feeling we are going to end up with four more years of a shit economy if mccain gets elected.... and at the end of the day, the economy is really the only thing i worry about...

I personally tend to agree with you but in the back of my mind (even though I wouldn't vote for either of them), it's the perfect ticket for the Democrats....

Borak - handling the middle east and having a male as commander in chief (sorry ladies, but I'm against women in combat and don't want a woman leading the charge).

Michelle - her stated agenda is to bring together racial divides and Hillary taking on women's issues and her pet project of universal health care.

I wonder if McCain talked to Obama about being his VP like he talked to Kerry. Lucky for us we have two dems running for office. One a little more war hungry than the other.

Way too early to know, and as was said before, it's more like months away than weeks away.

Names that make sense are Joe Biden, Wesley Clark (for foreign policy and military credentials respectively)

Tom Strickland, governor of Ohio....for the obvious reason.

Jim Webb, would help carry Virginia and definitely promote the message of change....two fresh faces to turn things around. (Also possible from Virginia are former governor Warner and current governor Kaine)

Montana governor Brian Schweitzer, could help carry Montana, Nevada, AND Colorado.

Some dark horse candidates are Michael Bloomberg, and Chuck Hagel.
Hagel would be a very interesting choice because although he is republican he has always been against the Iraq war. This would definitely send the change message home and Obama could tout the choice as proof that he's serious about ending gridlock and partisan sniping and getting things done in Washington.
It's hard to imagine the democrats going along with having a pro-lifer at the bottom of the ticket though.

Clinton, Edwards, and Richardson will all be on the short list, as a courtesy, but none of them will be offered the job.

Edwards and Richardson will serve in Obama's cabinet.....he'll offer Hillary a job out of respect and she'll decline and go back to the Senate where she hopes to become the majority leader.

Those polls aren't worth the paper they're printed on.

People are saying that because the candidate they prefer was still in the race.

When the republican nomination was still in play, Ann Coulter said that if McCain was the nominee she would campaign for Hillary Clinton...and Rush Limbaugh said McCain's nomination would ruin the party.

Do you honestly think all of the republicans who said the same thing about McCain during their primary that the democrats are now saying about Hillary and Obama are actually going to show up and vote for a democrat in November?

Not a friggin chance.

Biden would seems like the logical choice because of the foreign policy experience, but he's from Deleware which will vote dem anyways. Webb seems to be the best choice. Should put Virginia in play and has military experience. Served in Nam just like McCain except he didn't get caught. Served in the Reagan administration as Sec of Navy which could pull repubs and right leaning independants Obama's way.
