American Airlines surprised me

I was booking my flight to NYC and after all was said and done I noticed that I had fucked up and booked my return flight for 6:30 AM instead of PM.

I called to change it, fully expecting a surcharge of some sort.

They changed it, and said it cost $32 less, so they would issue me a voucher for that amount. Have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised.

Especially since I was expecting at least a $50 charge for changing the reservations.

Happened to me before, except with Delta. My 'mistake' was $150 more. So I was glad when I heard I'd be getting $150 "e-credits" when I called to change the error.

I've done similar things in the past. If you catch it fairly quickly, they are always good about fixing it without the fees.

I don't usually fly them. I think I may have when I got my dog a year ago. I usually fly SWA. They don't go to La Guardia any more.

Is it a decent program or am I going to have to fly them every month?

This never happen to me before. I have no idea why this company not asking for changing fee. Perhaps their policy is no charges for any changes.
About the voucher, I can say this is just a marketing strategy for repeat business. Of course they want to see you next time...

Well, to be honest, $32 isn't going to make me switch airlines, but if I have to go to NYC again in the next year I will try to remember I have it.

the deal is basically that if you fly 10,000 within 3 months, they'll comp you to platinum status. sweet deal if you fly on em enough.

Yeah, SWA gives free flights based on the number of flights. I rack those up easily. I don't see flying 10k in 3 months with AA ever happening.

*crosses fingers*
