Well I stopped last Easter and things do get better, for one I smile at the price of cigs now...But it does take time to clear things out. Food will start to taste better and you will notice smells. It just takes time. Good Luck.

But still you never know what happens to you, there is all kinds of weird shit that you can hardly prevent, no matter if you are self destructing yourself or slowly rot in a sterile environment eating all kinds of veggie shit and doing some douchebag activities such as jogging.

Then there is always a point where you realize you are becoming vulnerable, you can no more spend a week with 4 hours of sleep a day in average and if you get sick you won't recover in two days.

After about 9 years of intense nightlife - I never did any heavy stuff but was raised in the culture where you have to be able to stand about a gallon of booze and talk to the point - I recently figured that there are days I am starting to shake and have an action radius of Ozzy Osbourne, plus my heart beats like in a power ballad from Poison.

Something has changed, thus I quit at least the smoking part, and I even went that far that I am planning a massive comeback to the gym.
Dude I totally love you! I am a rocker chick in every way! Your post is so true. My whole entire 20's were spent drinking like a fish, partying, not sleeping, and still keep up the "rockstar" look even when your insides were FUCKED! Nothing I am bragging about, I like you I am sure, are paying for it.

It just sucks that right at the point in my life when I needed to start increasing my workouts and healthy habits I get thrown from the back of a motorcycle which led to everything else. Oh well such as life, at least I am not the douche bag jogging.

Oh hell yeah! But at least while I am forced to sit around and heal I am not gaining 400 pounds which would be bad on my heart and lungs. My looks are my outside motivation when I work out. My strength is too. Everything else is what it is all about, but ya have to think about what ya have to think about to get the job done!

I quit smoking last November. I smoke every now and then, usually when I get together with peeps who work in adult. Otherwise, I don't smoke any more.

I've also quit drinking.

I want to quit and I will as soon as I move out of my house which should be sold in the next 3 months. It will be easier that way because right now, including me, there are 3 smokers in the house so quitting would be pure hell. Once I'm alone again it will be much easier.

I feel sorry for smokers, yet I want to shoot inconsiderate smokers in the face with a shotgun.

I can't believe cigarettes are legal being how addictive and damaging they are to your health. The tobacco companies have incredible lobbyists. We need a few of them working for our industry.

Stay strong, I hope you can kick it and feel better.

20 minutes after quitting: Your heart rate and blood pressure drops.

12 hours after quitting: The carbon monoxide level in your blood drops to normal.
(US Surgeon General's Report, 1988, p. 202)

2 weeks to 3 months after quitting:
Your circulation improves and your lung function increases.
(US Surgeon General's Report, 1990, pp.193, 194,196, 285, 323)

1 to 9 months after quitting: Coughing and shortness of breath decrease; cilia (tiny hair-like structures that move mucus out of the lungs) regain normal function in the lungs, increasing the ability to handle mucus, clean the lungs, and reduce the risk of infection.
(US Surgeon General's Report, 1990, pp. 285-287, 304)

1 year after quitting: The excess risk of coronary heart disease is half that of a smoker's.
(US Surgeon General's Report, 1990, p. vi)

5 years after quitting: Your stroke risk is reduced to that of a nonsmoker 5 to 15 years after quitting.
(US Surgeon General's Report, 1990, p. vi)

10 years after quitting: The lung cancer death rate is about half that of a continuing smoker's. The risk of cancer of the mouth, throat, esophagus, bladder, cervix, and pancreas decrease.
(US Surgeon General's Report, 1990, pp. vi, 131, 148, 152, 155, 164,166)

15 years after quitting: The risk of coronary heart disease is that of a non-smoker's.
(US Surgeon General's Report, 1990, p. vi)

Immediate Rewards of Quitting

Kicking the tobacco habit offers some benefits that you'll notice right away and some that will develop over time. These rewards can improve your day-to-day life a great deal.

* your breath smells better
* stained teeth get whiter
* bad smelling clothes and hair go away
* your yellow fingers and fingernails disappear
* food tastes better
* your sense of smell returns to normal
* everyday activities no longer leave you out of breath (for example, climbing stairs or light housework).

Well, I still believe it's better to get tired from all those sick, vicious and exciting things till you can stand them and get your veteran status, then to find out you never had a life in your 40's and trying to oversocialize and pull the tricks on chicks beeing one foot in the grave and halfway from paying off the mortgage..

I have seen that too many times...immortal wanna be seladons trying to be funny after beeing hybernated in boredom and stereotype for ages...like if you would want to make a well bred Billy Goat dance John Travolta style..
