I saw on YNOT that Max Hardcore got off the hook with a hung jury in California.

Well, i'm glad he was not convicted. It just makes an obscenity conviction very tough in the USA.

But I will not "congratulate" him. He is not a "hero" for the adult industry.

I am sad that there is apparently a huge market for content totally based on the degradation of women. That's what keeps the guy in business.

And I am NOT a prude.

Women are beautiful creatures, our mothers, our daughters. Certainly girls sign model releases and submit to it. It just proves that you can defile people for money.

I hate that sort of shit, and I wish more people did.

I'm no fan of Max, nor of the dreck he produces, but I love The First Amendment, and no one is putting a gun to those girls' heads?or if someone is, then there is a criminal case to be made. Until someone proves otherwise, I can only assume they have freely calculated that whatever he pays them is worth being consensually raped.

Me personally...I have been offered quite a bit to do things I don't belive in and would never do. And didn't take it.

I know next to nothing about the Max Hardcore case, other than what I've read on various wm boards, but IMO it's a damned good thing he didn't go down for making his videos... good for the industry, and good for our First Ammendment rights, not just as porn slingers but as people in general.

Porn models and actresses are paid VERY well for what they choose to do, and it IS a choice! Actually I sold my business two or three weeks ago to my manager/partner/friend, but even while I was in this business I had, and have, other sources of income. So I will repeat that a woman/women do not keep me alive. I'm sure Max explained to the models exactly what type of shoot he planned on doing with them. They could have opted out then. If they felt uneasy about anything during the shoot they could have stopped then also. They may have to give back the money, but they aren't forced to complete any acts they don't wanna do. Touchy subject, and surprising posts.. But I think there's a line to be drawn here that isn't being drawn. Are girls "degraded" by posing nude? no. If they have sex on film, are they being degraded? no! But I can't say I understand why guys enjoy seeing girls suffer on film. To me that's not sexy, and I like sexy. I agree. The model is there to pose, not to be subjected to uncalled for touching or sexual suggestions. It's a workplace like any other with one or two major exceptions: 1) the employee is getting naked and posing provocatively; and 2) unlike most other work situations, models LIKE physical compliments. They are selling their beauty and sexiness, and unlike working in an office, for example, a well-phrased physical compliment makes the "employee" more comfortable, not less.

What I tell up and coming photographers of nudes is that compliments need to be tasteful and never personalized (e.g., "Your breasts are gorgeous" is a yes-yes; "I'd love to tit-fuck those things" is a no-no). Strangely, there seem to be guys who can't sense the difference.

My attorney once told me (and here I am forced to paraphrase), "If you and a model seem to be hitting it off and you'd like to advance to a social relationship. Wait until she is dressed and has been paid, and then invite her to something not-very-heavy, like coffee. If she says no, that's the end of it. You all call porn "degrading" and "exploitative", and I really don't agree. Kudos to any woman who has a great enough body and the balls to expose herself on camera! Porn models and actresses are paid VERY well for what they choose to do, and it IS a choice! To me, these arguments are as ridiculous as saying that football is degrading to men or that hockey is a practice in male exploitation. If these women opt to use the tools they were given to make a decent living, more power to them! THEY obviously don't have a problem with it or they'd be secretaries and soccer moms. Give them a little bit of credit for having the brains to make the choice! You show me one straight man who doesn't fantasize about women multiple times a day. Show me one straight man that doesn't sprout a stiffy watching a porn film or even seeing a hot babe in the supermarket! Sure, porn is about women and some of the onscreen "fantasies" might be a bit off the beaten path. The only disturbing aspect of it for me is that members of the psycho contingent will see a simulated rape movie and thing, "Gee, if they did it in this movie it must be okay!" But you're going to have a helluva hard time convincing me that if porn movies were wiped off the planet tomorrow, rapes and physical abuse of women would stop, 'cause I don't buy it. They could have opted out then. If they felt uneasy about anything during the shoot they could have stopped then also.
