"i went with a well known, successful hosting company that everyone loves"

"i tried to start a tube site with the most basic, cheapest server plan i could find" (sure indication of both experience and genius)

"i have a good bit to traffic for my tube site"

"i have full length videos on my tube site"

"i can't believe i have to pay another 150.00 to terminate my agreement for the server to host my super cool, very popular tube site"

You are missing the point. You are an idiot and owe Sly and Phatservers an apology. That's the only point that seems to be missed in this thread.

You run a site based on stolen content yet you come to a public forum and bash on a decent host when it was you who is the idiot in the first place. My guess is what ever host is dumb enough to take you on after this thread is eventually going to get burned for a chunk of change. The client expects the host to calculate how much he needs of BW...

A bit like if the house builder would call the hydro facility and ask them how many BTU or baseboards they should put in the house " ....

The host gives a way under evaluated estimate .. just didn't make sense ...

A bit like if the Hydro company says to the prospective buyer that his 3000 sq foot house will cost only $150.00 a month of electricity ...


I had yesterday a client that asked me this for a new server :

what can I really answer ? Do I know the number os users on the site ? The rate of encoding of the vids ? How many vids ? ....

so this was my answer :


I never considered a 3mbps line or even a 2000 gb monthly allocation on a 10 mbps port ...

Phatservers is a top notch host with awesome support. Then again, I don't host illegal tube sites with them so I'm not sure how much bandwidth I'd need for stolen vids.

I dont use Phatservers but, from what I have read here, Phatservers is a standup company that went out of their way to help. I have never seen a bad thread about them or Sly.

PHATSERVERS RULES!!!!! And can NOT be said enough!
They have ALWAYS gone above and beyond the call of duty with any and all issues I have ever had. They have even corrected problems with my hosting that I did NOT even know I had!
I only wish that other companies had HALF the service and support I have ALWAYS gotten with PHATSERVERS!

Not only did you make yourself look like an idiot but you're trying to hurt a company that has a STELLAR reputation here. That's not an easy thing to do considering the number of crybabies (like you) on this board who want to start drama every time a server burps or a click isn't counted by a sponsor.

You obviously don't understand the difference between servers and bandwidth, and if you plan on continuing in the internet business, be it adult or mainstream, then you should learn about these things.

It would be like me renting a copy machine that cost $150 per month, plus 5 cents per copy....then I make 10,000 copies the first week and I'm pissed off because it ends up costing more than $150 for the month.
You heard what you wanted to hear with the $150 a month and obviously didn't read the part of your agreement that said "bandwidth overage will be billed at $X per mbps.

You should be grateful they didn't hit your credit card again for the extra 17mbps you used, alot of hosts would have.

Satisfied Phatservers customer here. Doesn't sound like they did much wrong in this case.

You should simply have done some research what 3mbps means.

only reason i can think sly would've got you on the 3mbps plan is if he didnt fully understand that your "vid sharing site" is really a tube site

either way, part of being in the biz is having basic knowledge of badwidth/hosting (i agree with ro8in)

I can't say more good things about Phatservers. Their support and bw quality surpasses continues to amaze me. They represent one of the best values in the business.

Porntosh, you are in the wrong....but that's ok. Anyone who hasn't made a similar mistake when first starting out would be lying through their teeth. Look, if you want a cheap solution, check out The Planet. The boxes and support are subpar, the bandwidth is ok, and you'll probably get hacked once in a while. But for $150 - $200, that kind of bw transfer is doable.

I don't usually stick my neck out for companies, but I do believe in these guys. In fact, I just got another server from Sly about 5 minutes ago.
