I worked at ICS when TD worked there. He was a great guy. Very funny and clever, and supportive of the team. Socially, though, he would go through phases. I'm very similar. I like to be alone most times, and I also have had a heart attack. I am however online at set times of everyday, and even when I had my attack I was able to let someone know on ICQ and she contacted my work and a brother who's email and phone number she happened to have. By the time I was in the ER, my sister was talking my ear off on the hospital phone checking on me.

So I can completely relate. It can be months or longer between phone calls from family, and most of the knocks on my door are sales people or this one kid who rings 10 times then runs away.

But I know if I was ever absent from saying good morning or goodnight on ICQ, someone would be breaking down my door most likely.

So if you're a hermit too, at least try to have someone who cares about you in touch all of the time in some fashion or other, and let em know your pattern/routine.

The apartment management company was able to get in touch with Mark's mother and make arrangements for her to fly to California to settle his affairs, I will be trying to get in touch with her to arrange for a memorial service in the SoCal area.

Yes this was Mark to a T. I'm sure you can imagine our employee who lived in his complex feels like unbelievably upset that he never did more, even though he WAS over there knocking on Mark's door.. but again he knew his phases, assumed that Mark was not answering, and left him alone. That, and Mark was always pretty open about what he'd do to someone coming uninvited into his home... It's such a sad, unfortunate thing and we all feel so terrible and so much loss, there aren't even words to begin to express how tragic it all is... But it's the people who remember him that keep him alive in our hearts, and Mark definitely touched a lot of people.
