Why is it everytime a sponser ups its payouts...
...I end up making less money with them?

It could be due to the fact that everyone else starts promoting the shit out of them, too.. or, they could just be shaving you.

One thing not often discussed is that some programs add extra pre-checked cross sales or pop ups on those bonus days to make up for the increased payouts. Also, bonus days are typically on the slower business days which would account for lower sales. Besides shaving, those are some other things to consider. Just do yourself a favor and check your sponsor's join pages before the promo, then during the bonus days to see what's really up. ![]() |

True what GrouchyAdmin said more people start pushing that sponser would have an effect, but I would have thought that would be a slower, more gradual worsening of ratios with my kind of traffic.

I totally ignore promos. Only exception is if the site or program is brand new and their normal rate is acceptable. I care more good conversions, and a decent long term payout rather than a week at $100 PPS. In fact I probably shouldnt say this but if an established program is constantly having webmaster promos I have learned to be weary.
Pay on time, have a decent pay out, accessible reps, don't play any shave games, and I'll hear about you from word of mouth eventually. ![]() Oh yeah, and if I have a 1:200 ratio for the first three months and then it is 1:6,000 for the next two years, do not be surprised if I never touch a single thing you put out under any name ever again.

Its possible the sponsor has adjusted its membership cost somehow or has a different way to harness the new sales that clients are not use to.
As any business, we have to do what we can to entice affiliates to join up. Alot of the time its at a loss as not many sites RETAIN members more then beyond there trial period. Its the never ending numbers game but what do i know lol.

I can't speak for all programs, but often times it could be the fact everyone is rushing to promote them as well.
We pride ourselves on good ratios, but with that being said, there is just some traffic that just won't convert. That's kind of the way it goes. Even the best of programs just sometimes have an affiliate (or affiliates) that just won't convert for them. I disagree about being wary of sponsors with too many promos. Coke and Pepsi are all very well known, yet they have new promotions all the time. The reason is, they want you to switch to their brand. If we run a promo, it's the same thing. We want to reward existing affiliates and we want new affiliates to try us out as well. In the competitive affiliate marketplace, you have to do things to stand out and get noticed once in awhile. With few exceptions, those that don't, won't be around very long.

i once heard the higher the payout the more people push the sites and the more saturated it becomes so less sign ups
might be a way to go with low paying sponsors ![]()
