There are still people who do it. I do it, but it's more of a habit now than anything else. My parents taught me that was the proper way to do it. First time I brought a date home I didn't do it when we went out to a movie later and I got a big lecture about it. Haven't missed a door since.

That's abnormal. I never had someone have to open the passenger door for me, that's strange. I mean if I'm sitting there already, all I gotta do is pull the handle and open it myself. It's called Proper Etiquette. Some believe in it, some dont. So it's hit or miss these day's whether it'll make a good impression, no impression, negative impression. And that is a shame. Things like etiquette are what used to seperate the scum from the well mannered and you were judged on such things socially.

Have things improved since such things declined? The jury is still out, but I know I see and hear some of the most foul mannered, foul mouthed punks in my lifetime in more recent times.

Some of this stuff is formality that is taught while others are more easily observed behavior and comes about by being conscientious toward others. For example, I don't know the proper order that my fork, spoon, and knife are supposed to be laid out on the table but this is trivial.

but well since today in most cars opening the passenger door, opens also the driver's door, not many men can use this method anymore
