Though if you check crime stats in those same states I posted above you would see burglaries are way less common where it is often expected most people in a house have guns. If most of the population was allowed to have a gun thieves would be much less likely to just break in anywhere or even randomly assualt someone.

Also have noticed a lot more places with very strict gun laws or where they are illegal for the most part, assualts and the like have rised a great deal with knives and swords.

If we eventually get to the point of banning weapons eventually your going to be prevented from owning rocks small enough to be thrown.
