well things have changed a lot - if they aren't ready to go after the Tube sites that hide behind the 'user submitted' content loophole in the DMCA then it's nothing great at all - that's where the real damage is being done, content has been stolen since the beginning and it really never hurt anybody other than the anger that somebody was making money with something you created and/or paid for. The Tube sites and the Rapidshares are damaging the entire business. And legal fights against them are definitely not simple copyright infringement cases, where if somebody is caught red handed with your content and you document it they have no defense - and I don't know if this new group is going to take on that fight.

We have reached a step up or shut up period in determining where the industry goes. That costs money. Bottom line. Lawyers can give a fuck where we go and what happens to our industry. They understand money. That's the way it is folks. Time to stop complaining and actually start taking steps towards making a case law out of someone. Time to put down the tin foil hats. Time to put down the Haterade. Sink or swim. This is not my company. Yah, I'm kinda responsible for getting it started, but it's not my deal. We will see now who's serious about doing something about this thing called piracy.

4cents.

I doubt there are many people who would do their job if they did not get paid. Lawyers gotta eat too!

We are such downtrodden, abused souls.....

Nice move a1r3k,
it's good to see there's people in the industry who not just "cares" about the problem, but makes some moves either.

Is there any kind of opt-in list?

whatever it is - I'm interested and I'm ready to support / take part of the undertaking.

Getting the site up and ready before any press releases would be wise

This industry needs to start aggressively going after pirates. If people can get all our pictures and video for free they will never pay for it. I don't know if this new company is the solution, but I do know that copyright enforcement and anti piracy will cost, and is absolutely critical to our future.

The money we spend on parties to impress idiots who will never send traffic will pay for all the lawyers. {/sarcasm}

Seriously it's about priorities, do we sit back and do nothing and let others make a profit off our backs or do we fight?

I agree with A1R3K it's time to step up to the plate. Support the fight or go find a new job.

Then prove that they are checking or get someone to keep hitting them with DMCA notices, employ him to make them spend money. Tubes run on a thin line of profit, tip the balance. I'm working on a few ideas of my own to tip the balance.

no offense buddy. the resaon for the comment is for the haters who will cry that this had to be a pay to play thing. litigation is expensive and the model could not function as a non profit as i intended it to be.

sad but true. results are surely contingent on compensation. i'm sure vivid's lawyers suing aebn are not doing it for free.

forgive my generalization.

Obviously something needs to be done about piracy across the board. But at its core this is an "entitlement" issue. Surfers have been given so much free porn the feel they deserve porn for free. Ask all your buddies, it is an afront to most to actually have to pay for porn.

nothing is free in a capitalist world.

police cars arent free, nor is 911 calls.

cops only do their job because they are paid.

you cant even call 911 for your dying grandmother and not be charged, hell the ambulance ride averages $400-600 LOL

hell you pay for 911 even if you DONT use it

Yeah I am also in, we don't have much content pirated which dissapoints me because the level of piracy seems to be equal to the level of popularity.

But I'll keep an eye on this, and if you need to send me to Hong Kong, I am your man.

Very good point.

But that's the Internet and the way it's thought of by many. People will buy something on a phone they would never spend money for on the Net.

What we have to be careful of is thinking the buyers think like us. We know how to rape a site and auto download everything in hours, the average buyer does not, the average password trader does.

On a side note does anyone know why Eric of www.removeyourcontent.com can't post here?

Seems he's another person fighting against piracy and he can't post here.

You know you can't offend me! I usually don't give a shit enough to be offended!

Why should it be non-profit? This is a service that has value. It helps businesses, it doesn't feed the hungry or clothe the naked. Damn right anyone that wants to use it should pay for it!

If your service was helping poor people survive, then I can see a reason to be non-profit. BUT.... since this service either (1) helps businesses gain revenue or (2) help businesses reduce losses, then by all means it should be done for profit. I like getting all warm fuzzy feelings but the power company told me I could not pay my electric bill with warm fuzzy feelings.

Eric from RemoveYourContent.com is already doing this, and has been running the service for awhile already.

He has some big well known players in his client base too.

Regardless, this is a great business idea so good luck to all the players involved. I sincerely think this is excellent what you guys are doing and in the end it means more sales and less free porn floating around.

Bravo.

Yes. Agreed. I just wanted it to be more of a co-op. You know a UNITY thing. But I gave up on trying to organize greedy, selfish, some of them, shady people. My time has been better spent on my priorities at the moment.

The people in PAK are good people. This is a start.

I respect your spam efforts to drop Eric's URL in here.

It's not a competition. Chances are I'll never see a nickle from this.

We're all in this together.

P.S. - I'm just funnin with ya on the spamming thing.

I don't see him as competition to this or the FSCs version of whatever it is they are doing as well. It shows me that I'm not crazy and that there are things that have to be dealt with and people are stepping up to do it.
