BS new rule from flashcash

from today's newsletter:

So, let me assure each and every one of you. If we catch you telling the surfers how long our trials last, you will be warned and told to change your page. If you do not comply in a reasonable amount of time, you will be terminated.

With few words the sponsor doesnt allow you to refer to how many days the trial will last.

Sounds like a knee jerk reaction to falling conversions. Maybe they should try buying our feeds to keep members around!

You missed yesterday's version of that :D

When looking at our stats we have found a few webmasters accounts that almost never convert from our Trial period to our Paid period. These accounts always seem to have one thing in common. They tell the surfers how long our trial lasts. It doesn't matter if the webmaster is using Jackpot Free, Jackpot Per Signup, Jackpot Recurring, Classic Per Signup or Classic Recurring. It is always the same result...very poor conversion ratios.

So, as of now and forever, if we find anyone telling their surfers how long our trials last, your account will be terminated on the spot.

I read the yesterday's email too, but what I posted is the one you just said also now. I would understand if you made a policy for webmasters telling to surfers to cancel before the end of the trial, but I find it unrealistic not to allow to a webmaster to reffer for the duration of the product he/she offers.

I think you should reconsider this rule, it's looks to me like a rush decision you took and reminds me a similar decision CE took about their free program a year ago which didn't last more than 10 days or so.

I have stated several times in this board that FC is a great program and I recall many other webmasters telling the same, but I can't understand this new policy.....

That's pretty well the end of me and flascash. Sounds like they are having some member retention problems.

How do you guys feel about the fact that nobody buys your product if they know what they are really getting?

No, just posting the other mail I got... I love FC, been using them for years now... it just came off as rude. I actually didn't get the first mail posted in this thread I went into my mail to get the copy I had from yesterday. I thought they send out different mails to different webmasters lol...

Oh well, love 'em or leave 'em...

Guys
It's not a knee jerk reaction and it has nothing to do with honesty. We give full disclosure on our sites as to how long the trial is.

Here is the deal...we try many different trials. Sorme are for 7 days and some for 3. So what happens if someone advertises a 7 day free trial when that particular day it is only 3?

Also...with Jackpot Free, where we pay you for a free trial no matter if the surfer cancels or not, the worse converting sites from free trial to paid membership come from sites that advertise the number of days the trial lasts.

It's all just good business...nothing more, nothing less.

I guess I take the knee jerk reaction part back. We do have falling conversions with people that mention the length of the trial membership.

As far as this knee jerk reaction...we found the problem and have fixed it with this new rule.

When people say "Free Trial" with Jackpot Free or 99 cents/day with Jackpot per signup, our conversions and retentions are through the roof.

Our signups have nearly doubled in the past 6 months...how many other programs can say that?

I don't blame you. I wouldn't use a program that forbids me to tell my surfers the truth. This industry has enough problems.

I see your point Jim, and I agree with you in principle, after thinking about it.

One of the issues I see is that when resellers put something on their ad material -- i.e. 3 days for 2.95, and then never update their material, while the trial changes to 5 days for 5.95, there is a misrepresentation in there that has repercussions for the site owner and the reseller.

Allowing it or not allowing is certainly up to you guys, but I have known Mark and Jason for quite some time and can't really see them telling resellers something that would potentially piss them off without very good reason on your part.
