what I don't get is who pushes 50mbit of traffic from an 80gb HD? Or is that the necessary upgrade not included in the price?

I cannot guarantee that this server will work for everyone's needs. Because of this, we'll also offer an alternative option.

Yes indeed an interesting deal, .......perhaps a very good deal.......but the bandwidth seems to exceed the hardware (HDD @ 80GB !?, RAM @ 1GB !?) !

You may want to see the additional option (2GB of RAM and 2 HDDs as well as a better processor) for an additional $50/month. Either way, we've seen machines with 1GB of RAM push over 100Mbps, however your ability to push that much bandwidth will vary based upon the type of web site or application that you are hosting.

Adult webmasters want to know they can contact you at any time for anything, we're a support intensive group and this 2 Hours Additional Software/OS Support Per Month Included would throw up a big red flag for me if I was looking for hosting. We need unlimited support. 24/7/365

The "2 hours" is simply a guideline that we use to ensure that each contract is profitable. Hosts claiming to offer 24/7 unlimited support could be subjecting themselves to re-installing Apache or reloading the OS twice a day for certain customers. I don't think there's anything wrong with imposing some limits. Generally, we use these limits as a rough guideline anyway -- if a customer exceeds the limits by an hour or two one month, they will generally not be charged. If they are consistently exceeding included levels of support, we will begin to charge the customer. |

Whomever told you that is simply incorrect. We've been in business since 1995, we're BBB members, and for serious potential customers, we can provide references who can attest to meeting multiple members of our team.

We have three data centers in the Washington, DC area -- Ashburn Equinix, 1275K Street in DC, and Switch and Data in Reston. It is not practical to staff each facility 24/7 since they do not all have offices or work spaces. Our office is centrally located in Sterling, VA (about 7 minutes from Equinix and 12 minutes from Switch and Data, our two main data centers). We staff our office instead so that our staff can provide 24/7 coverage to both facilities in the area.

We're not an HE.net reseller: http://www.fixedorbit.com/AS/33/AS33597.htm . We manage our own Cisco routers, with 10GE pipes from multiple providers. HE is not at our Switch and Data location, not at 1275K Street in DC, not at 1656 Milpitas, not currently at One Wilshire (though they are coming there), etc. HE.net doesn't even sell managed boxes to my knowledge. Do some research before criticizing. |

Nothing in this world is "unlimited." It's just a fact of life. If you run a business and offer unlimited support, do you mean to tell me that you can afford to offer 24 hours per day of support for each customer that pays you? Most companies that claim to offer "unlimited" support will at some point impose limits. We own up to this rather than attempting to hide it. Any business with a sustainable, profitable business model cannot offer unlimited anything. Being in business since 1995, we're comfortable with our business model, our offerings, and our terms, and we have many happy customers who are happy to provide testimonials for serious potential clients.

You need us, we don't need you, get that through your skull and you might earn some business. Or you can keep offering packages that don't fit the needs of the people who read this board and wonder why you're not selling them. And when people ask questions about your business you can continue to talk down your nose to them and tell them they should google you or look you up on a mainstream board. Adult and Mainstream are two totally different things when it comes to hosting, you don't seem to understand that, and that alone is reason enough for us to not host with you. Like I told you in another one of your threads, you need to go back to sales school, because you really suck at it so far.

you stupid...no one aint gonna spend their time 24 hours talking to support, are you that dumb? people only need support when they need support....and you can take a loss 1,2,3 months and it will be ok because hosting is long term and people aint gonna be that easy to switch every few months...people work on their shit not talk to support all day long or change hosts every time their fart.

You know whats sad about this whole thing? This guy is actually being up front and getting flamed out the ass for it. No host offers unlimited support with all their contracts. Sure, plenty say they do. Just like the whole "24/7/365 support" thing. With most hosts, that means the ticket system takes tickets all the time and someone looks at them here and there at night, or that someone is close to the phone and checks the messages once an hour or something.

They might say they do. But sooner or later, limits are set and/or a customer is helped to the door. Might just be a matter of a large price increase, setting a new policy against running a certain kind of software, frequent "outages" that only effect that customer, etc. Or simply telling them to get out. I have hosted people on my boxes as a shared host before and I make it very clear that there is no support for customer applications. And if they start messaging me, I say "Look, you need to find someone who has the time for it. I simply don't have time to provide support to someone for $10 a month." Many hosts lead the customer to the impression that hand holding is there and the customer doesn't find out until after they are in a contract. This guy is up front with it and all people do is flame him for it. |

Excellent! I don't have an ICQ account, but I can get one setup. Today isn't the best since I have meetings other obligations, but tomorrow (Tuesday) or Wednesday works better. Expect to hear from me on ICQ soon and we'll set something up!

Yep, thanks pr0! It turns out that one of my meetings today may be canceled, so today might work indeed. Either way, I will catch you on ICQ at some point today to schedule everything.

maybe next time you should stop telling people your second 6509 is in my companies cage and not claim it to be yours at reston. And before you say anything yes its true because I toured a customer a few months back after you(maybe almost a year about now) did and thats what they told me. Think before you speak before I start debunking all your other statements.

adultbandwidth, I am also in the area and good friends with pr0. I have been asked by many of my customers about you and your offers as well as who and what you claim to be, so I would also be interrested in being in on this meeting. If you are up to it hit me up as well and let's see what's up. |

I agree extra support shouldnt bother the compeny or cost any EXTRA to the coustmer! Thats how people get pissed off at hosting companies who think theres level of support and level of extra support .

No its not, lighttpd or if you cache images into squid for thumb servers can easily do 50Mbps.

We have P4s with a gig that push more than 100Mbps reliably on a regular basis. |

I'd be glad to have you join in. Perhaps we can meet at the office, then head over to one or both of the data centers and then grab lunch together. I'll shoot you an e-mail with regard to this. Wednesday's probably the best day for me. I'll also hop on ICQ (hopefully later today) to chat with pr0. |

pr0 and I already talked and we were hoping for today or tomorrow? He can make it after that but I am leaving wed for 10 days vacation to Disney with the wife, 2 sons and both their girlfriends. pr0 is quite capable of observing your operation and reporting to all of the interrested partie. I would hope you could make it tomorrow, but let us know. Jim |

I get the feeling that this isn't going to end well for the new guy.

I could be wrong, but that's what my gut tells me. (it also tells me to order pizza way too much so maybe I shouldn't listen to it)

I've e-mailed you -- hopefully you can pass that along to pr0 so I don't have to sign up for ICQ. |
