You obviously don't know how it all works. It has nothing to do with "hiding" anything, and everything to do with working within the law (if don't correctly) the same as you run a corporation in the USA. The only difference is you pay LESS taxes legally. There are some people that use it for totally illegal purposes, but for those of us who don't, this could be a real pain in the ass if passed.

I've said it before and I will say it again... only the poor and the stupid pay a lot of taxes. There are plenty of legal ways to DRASTICALLY lower your tax burden or pay virtually NO taxes at all.

Don't worry. It will be a pain in the ass but you can bet your sweet ass the wealthy people will find a legal work around. That's what they do.

And that's exactly what needs to change... if you live in the US you should be paying your fair share of taxes to the US gov't so they can upkeep the services and agencies that benefit you. If you're not, then you're just being a leech on society.

This is just another example of the ever tightening grip of Big Brother, especially Big Brother post 9/11. Seriously, those of you who have been in the biz since Clinton - haven't you noticed a big change?

Typical bs based on assumption DirtyWhiteBoy

Assumptions being:

(a) Control
(b) Transfers of Income
(c) Beneficial ownership
(d) Foreign financial accounts

That is one hell of a lot of assumptions because "These presumptions are needed in civil judicial and administrative proceedings because the tax, corporate, or bank secrecy laws and practices of these jurisdictions make it nearly impossible for U.S. authorities to gain access to needed information."

Wot a pity the laws of other countries "make it nearly impossible for U.S. authorities to gain access to needed information" Some countries have privacy laws and believe in freedom in a practical sense - not just talk about it.

It is pretty fucked up that this is one of the only countries that still requires you to files taxes even if you don't live within the boarders.

If it helps the US Treasury prevent cheating, I can't see how it is a bad thing.

The American Government has been spending taxpayer money in ways we never intended for too long now. The amount we have spent on the war is just one example. There's thousands of other instances where our money has been misspent.

Lots of people have gotten tired of paying more than a third of their earnings to allow these people to do things that aren't beneficial to us.

Sure, I bet some smart ass will come into this thread and say that we can control that by voting for different people and writing our representatives. To them I will say grow the fuck up.

Tell ya DH - I would almost agree with that straightforward reason

It is correct that any person should pay whatever taxation is due wherever they elect to live and not try to scam revenue agencies.

But... the "almost agree" goes so far in that any US citizen who is not even resident in the US has the burden and dubious "privilege" of being chased worldwide for any dime they earn and being burdened by silly annual filings to the IRS - even tho they may never have lived, travelled to, or have any connections with the US for 25 years. That is sure not within the spirit of any "freedoms" or "values" - it's simply boring control, distasteful and greedy.

There are even instances of... eg... citizens of other countries who happen to marry a US citizen and where the IRS actually have the gall to seek taxation from a foreign individual in respect of possible benefits/earnings re their spouse A fair number, least of the people I know, just tell the IRS to get stuffed - they have no "obligation" to pay anything to the IRS and never will have if they don't live or earn within the US.

Only controlled and usually oppressive regimes treat their citizens like that and sadly the US is in the company of places like Lybia and Saudi in this respect. No other countries chase their citizens while they are not even resident in their "home country" for taxation.

People only have one life - they are entitled to live that life wherever they want and in whatever manner suits them. They did not choose a country to be born in or be burdened by taxation for the rest of their lives from the "priviledge" of being born in the wrong area. Anyone is obliged to pay taxation in the country they reside - not continue to pay taxation if they don't even live there.

Obviously for legal reasons it is unwise to even remain a US citizen re the above, but hell, the law is an ass and can sympathise with US folks who live elsewhere and still "controlled" by an unfortunate/non-free jurisdiction at birth.
