Only ones I allow to live are daddy long legs. However, if found on my bed they die. If found in shower... They die. other than that I'm fine with them. They can chill in corners and such with no problem. If the web gets really dusty I just knock the web out.

I have a healthy respect for spiders (I'd rather just be a little scared than say "oh yeah, that type is harmless" and be wrong) but I still manage to C&R most of them. I used to just scoop them up with a piece of paper but now I use a clear cup to trap them against the wall or floor, then I slide paper across the top so I can move it.

My wife freaks out completely, if I was in another room I wouldn't know the difference between her seeing a small spider, or finding an axe murderer behind the bathroom door.

If the spider is just in the wall i won't do anything to it. But if the spider goes to me then i will definitely send it back to hell.

Ever since I saw one of these:

Crawling around my neck, in my bed, in the middle of the night when I lived in Las Vegas, I kill them. It's the creepiest feeling. I also hate cockroaches for the same reason...

I hate cockroaches as well, especially the ones flying.

Catch and release poisonous or not. My property is a very nice and stable ecosystem and I know spiders play an important part of it. Same goes for bee's, wasps, and several other bugs.

Only things I really kill are cockroaches, rats, and mice. Though the snakes and owls usually take care of any small rodents.

We also use insect safe plant sprays and the like. Or if my yard gets grubs I just get more nematodes and add them in. Ant or aphid problem and in comes the lady bugs. For awhile had a mosquito problem due to a close creek. Instead of buying an expensive propane or natural gas eliminator (we do have west Nile) I invested a few bucks and assembled a few bat houses and had them installed on my hillside in the pine trees. One year latter and I have plenty of bats and next to no mosquitoes and moths anymore.

Ok I am a freak, but I care about my property and the animals that live on it.

catch and release, and Sydney has some of the deadliest spiders in the world ... like the Sydney Funnel Web

"Funnel-webs are probably one of the three most dangerous spiders in the world and are regarded by some to be the most dangerous.[1]

Examination of bite records seems to indicate that wandering males have caused a large majority of fatal bites to humans, however this has not been proven. Males, recognised by the modified terminal segment of the palp, are aggressive and tend to wander during the warmer months of the year looking for receptive females of their kind for mating.[2] They are attracted to water and hence are often found in swimming pools where they have fallen while wandering. They also show up in garages and yards in suburban Sydney.

While some very venomous spiders may give dry bites, these spiders do so much less frequently. It appears that approximately 10% to 25% of bites will produce toxicity[1] but the likelihood cannot be predicted and all should be treated as potentially life-threatening.

There have been 26 recorded deaths in Australia in the last 100 years from spider bites. Bites from funnel web spiders have caused 13 deaths (seven in children)[1]. In all cases where the sex of the biting spider could be determined, it was found to be the male of the species.[3] Most victims were young, ill or infirm. Members of the genus Hadronyche may also cause fatal envenomations although none have been recorded. Assays of venom from several Hadronyche species have shown it to be similar to Atrax venom."

I agree with you for the most part. However, I had a Brazilian Wonder get into my house in Brazil. It was about 6 inches across (maybe more) and very aggressive. The have been know to jump a few feet to bite. In any case, it was very late at night and my wife and son where asleep. Well... until they herd the noise of me killing it.

I did go and get rubber strips to put on the bottom of the doors the next day though

Kind Regards,

Les
