Fraternities move away from party image

I was in a fraternity in the mid and late 80s and yeah I was hazed as a pledge, kidnapped as an active, and involved in many more things that I would never divulge in a public forum

All very fond memories tho!

Any of the younger college fraternity people here vouch for less hazing nowadays?

I joined in 2000 i would agree to what you said about the hazing and kidnapping, Nothing changed just people are not as public about it anymore and watch what they do more closely

I am a Phi Kappa Sigma from George Mason University, graduated in 1992.

I had a great fraternity experience and would recommend it to anyone.

i'm actually a frat boy too, and the funny thing is that this article is about my fraternity but not my chapter. Definitely NOT my chapter... i'm not too sure about this early morning yoga thing they got goin on... fuckin weird.

It has changed though from the days of Animal House, not to say that there was no craziness - some of my craziest, most memorable stories are from the fraternity, but talking to older guys things definitely calmed down a lot.

I'd agree that some of my craziest most memorable stories are from my fraternity days and ironically my era was calm compared to the guys in the classes before me.

I honestly think I would be disgusted if the pledges were doing yoga when they should be out running some menial treasure hunt!

I just thank god the Internet was not around when I was at my most out of control.

I was too busy working 2-3 jobs to pay my tuition bills to have time for a fraternity....

I went to college for 3 years and then said FUCK IT!

colleges only teach you to work for others and be a puppet.
