Just wondering if google uses information they shouldn't use in their se ranking algorithm?....

for example, traffic data they might acquire through analytics or adsense installs...

links they might determine to be coming from the same webmaster due to common adsense or analytics or webmaster tools codes in determining if links are relevant or not...

etc.

I am just not sure I think it is right to use it in the algorithm for the search engine rankings... that is my point

Do you think it is ok to favor or disfavor a comparison between two different sites based on information that is only gleanable from a site that chooses to install their tracking code software?

say you set up sites on separate c class and link between them but put adsense on both, will google then consider them as being linked in ownership and therefore might as well be an inlink?

ok, here is a better scenario to illustrate what I meant by this thread....

say there are two identical websites, the only difference between them is google analytics is installed on one but not the other.... by virtue of using traffic data that google obtains from their google analytics program, they give the website that has their google analytics software installed a boost in the SE results (which to me is an obvious conflict... to favor a site over another in ranking results based on whether they have google analytics installed)

therefore to be properly free of conflict of interest they should not use data from user optional programs in their ranking algorithm (it would be almost as bad as giving a search engine ranking boost based on Alexa, just plain wrong)

I like that, google if your paying attention. Above is a great idea and you could use the extra info.

I did a search on the word "ICE", which is a common word that one would expect might bring up results on frozen water perhaps, or perhaps not

anyways, the sponsored link that came up was for ice . com (whom I remember reading about as being a company with a 7 figure advertising budget with google)

ranking pretty high for the keyword ICE was ice . com, they ranked higher than ice . org ... but seeing those two right near the top made one think that domain name itself must have a big ranking bonus, but maybe not

the meta title for ice . com had no mention of the word ICE

looking at the backlinks to ice . com I found very few external links using the keyword ICE (the only ones I found were using the whole domain name)

so I am really curious how this site which is a jewelry site that has very little keyword saturation for the word ICE ranks right at the top for that keyword

does a 7 figure budget help in the SE rankings? or is the domain name alone worth a huge ranking bonus?

any of you SEO gurus explain what I am missing in my understanding of this ranking success story?
