Help.. getting .avi's to work in vegas 7
How the hell do you get AVI files to work in Sony Vegas 7?
I tried installing the microsoft dv codec's and then in prefs telling vegas to use ms codecs but that didnt work, i still just get audio and no video. help!

Sounds like you are missing an audio codec. Go to http://www.kcsoftwares.com/ and download the VideoInspector (free) it will tell you which codec(s) the video was encoded with and even give you a link for download if you need it.

You have the change the fourcc tag in the file. there's two programs you can use...
fourcc changer or avitype.exe I like the second one because it does multiple files. It's been a while since I've done it, but I believe the problem is the xvid codec. If the old FCC code says xvid on the file, then change it to divx, or vice versa. I forget. that should work for ya. |

I should say that some avi's work but I have a few videos out of my Canon 650 camera I want to put together and when I dump them in I get the audio track but no video track
