I was down there a few weeks ago for a wedding and they had hired drivers to take us down there. On the way back we get pulled over by the cops, and they are explaining to us what the driver did wrong and now they have to take his drivers licence and follow them to the police station to pay the fine. The four of us passengers are like we do not know this guy, he was hired to drive us and they need to deal with him not us. Next thing the driver starts crying, saying he will lose his job and they let us go. Classic shit for Mexico. The wedding was here http://www.casanatalie.com/, and was one of the sickest wedding I have ever been too.

Why are you so eager to hand over your money when you did nothing wrong? |

Scam or no scam, the quicker you can get rid of the Mexican police, the better. That's not a lot of money to pay to make it all go away. My husband was in Mexican jail once, and he said the floor is covered in piss, shit, and vomit and there are trannies in there who will try to steal your shoes. The guards took his Motorhead jacket, and later on he saw one of them wearing it. I am down there a lot because my family lives there, and so far I've been lucky and the cops have never bothered me at all.

I NEVER take my car down to Mexico. You might as well kiss it goodbye if it's a nice one.

I have a similar story, where five of us were coming back from Bob's Lobster lunches in Mexico. We were driving in a convertable, drunk - and we thought that car surfing was a good idea at the time, oddly enough thats not what they pulled us over for. One of us decided to take a leak on the highway leading back to the border and thats when the Mexican Police stopped us and demanded $350 before we could leave. And let me tell you, they may not be able to speak english but they sure do know enough to speak on the topic of American currency.
Anyway, to make a long story short, after two hours of detaining us on the side of the road we negotiated it down $35. What was even more ironic is that when we were in the line to cross the border back to the good ol' USA, the vendors wouldn't stop bothering us with their trinkets-and since we only had some coins on us, we decided to throw them at the vendors out of an afternoon of frustration. Comedy of Errors...I tell ya. Purple Haze |
