When i was a kid my dad told me about keeping a folded $100 beside my DL in my wallet and then to hand both to the cop upon asking for my DL .. well let me tell you .. my car being torn apart ...full cavity search and 10 day impound of my vehicle taught me this is not really the way to deal with johnny law up here .... hell and I thought $100 was a lot 25 years ago .. LMFAO

I'm in Mexico all the time lately, I live by the border. You guys fell hook line and sinker for the mordita. Tip next time this happens, tell them sure I'll follow you to the station. If you were not doing anything wrong, they will eventually stop and give you your license back and go look for the next gringo to extort.

The real beauty about Mexico is that they are still living with the technology and ethics of American cops from back in the 60's...

That means he never called you in to his dispatcher... It also means you could have shot his ass dead and just kept going and no one would have to know...

Well, he was parked with a motorcycle cop when we passed them. Pretty sure he would have noticed something was wrong.

it was 11:11 when i thought about responding to this so i decided it was worthy. i think you'll never know for sure if you were being "had" or not and if it got you your flight and out of dealing with a big waste of time (even had you gotten out of a ticket fee/charge) but that it was worth the gamble to offer him the cash to catch your flight. you were presented with that choice or the choice of believing the guy and missing the flight to possibly find out that you could have called his bluff. i agree with the above poster, probably the best $110 you spent regardless. :2 cents:

Our run for the border was uneventful ... however, had we not been carrying cash .. we'd still be in Mexico. No CC transactions at the gas station in Mexico, nor at any US store 20 miles near the border.

Maybe cause it was Sunday, but all the CC/debit machines had signs over them .. Out Of Order. I did keep my Baja Season's wrist band on, till I was on US soil.

Baddog's car isn't fast enough to get a ticket. Well, I guess any car can do 65mph.

We hit the border at 4:30am and drove right up to the border itself. No cops, blew the car out, had a blast.
