My HS and college sweetheart I was soured against by my mother under the idea that he would never amount to anything (he wasn't exactly a "good kid"....). Today he owns a mortgage company, lives in a $3mil house, looks the same as he did 30 years ago and of course, is now married with 2 adorable kids. Another one kept calling when I was out, she never got a single call returned and she worked out pretty soon what that meant.
