Started a new hobby : The Art Of Tattoo [pic]
on an impulse I bought a "tattoo kit" then once I joined a good Tattoo forum ( ink-trails) I found out that most of the stuff in the kit is crap, so I started buying quality stuff, a new liner machine, etc.
I figure, why pay when you can do your own. I am learning as I go, and so is my wife. We are both artistically inclined so I said, "what the fuck?" We can tattoo each other. And when i'm done practicing on grapefruits, pig ears and fake skin, i'll tat a few friends for free too. I actually already did a small star tattoo on her ankle, I don't have a pic yet. ![]() Anyone out there trust me to do a tat on them hehehoohoohaha ![]() |

Ink-trails is an interesting forum, lot of very experienced and self taught tattoo artists on there, all willing to teach and answer questions. Not a substitute for being in a shop, but still good info. |

I would have never thought of taking up tattooing as a hobby but it sounds very interesting.
Is that a Dragon on the grapefruit there Ray? _

Yea, it's as deep as you want to go. Mastering an art like this can take a long time.
Congrats, it looks like fun. But, I'll pass on the offer to be a guinea pig. LOL.

Yea, Just practicing outlining. It's really hard to get a stencil to stick on fruit so you have to free-hand to art, but they are a good inexpensive way to practice needle depth (when riding the needle) and making nice solid lines. |
