out of all the routes i see announced for them, they all end with 209 11846 21790 (according to telnet://route-views.oregon-ix.net/) - that's Qwest, NP1, and LikeWhoa. i guess Cogent is just transit from NP1's facility to LikeWhoa's?

Pipecrew... dont let penis envy get in the way of you seeing straight.

Allliquid = Likewhoa correct?

And as far as ConversionCash goes, that attempt at a piss is really not worth dignifying with an answer... bottom line is that likewhoa has taken thousands of dollars, cost us nearly 6 figures in lost revenue and never did anything to make it right aside from apologizing, promising to fix it, fucking up some more and apologizing again.

The phrase "it's like watching a monkey fuck a football" comes to mind... and yes.. you're the monkey.

Now get back to being a fulltime poster cause we all know you must not spend much time focusing on your business.

still no verio. curious how people are liking cogent? do they notice a difference from LW's network? i know i've always thought cogent had to be garbage but i admit i haven't actually used it (to my knowledge).

i'm kinda amazed. judging by the board a LOT of poeple host with likewhoa. nobody's got a opinion of what Cogent is like after experiencing "TIer 1" Verio bandwidth?

higher latency? less bandwidth? or is it better?

Well, since you all brought up Galaxy Net, I thought I would let everyone know, http://www.imedia.net is basically the old Galaxy Net, or what is left of it. Its run by Michael Lindsay. What a prick! He also pyle drived webcash.com into the ground as well.

i didn't think they were still in business frankly, heh.

btw, they're seen through level3 because yipes is a level3 customer. their performance is questionable (i've seen it) at least, their gear is (and without good gear, what can you do?)

edit: also btw, it looks like all of their announcements come from yipes. bgp ends with 6517 21790 (according to route-views.oregon-ix.net). i don't know what their outbound is like of course.

is yipes better than cogent for y'all? still never saw anyone sayin anything about how cogent was vs. verio.. i'm very curious.

Damn that was so long ago. I knew Galaxy became Imedia, but didn't know Michael Lindsay still ran it.

Webcash, now that's a blast from the past. What ever happened to that? They could have done a lot with Webcash if they were smart. The programmer behind it was a good guy.

Running a network is never easy. The problems that likewh0a are having are very common with low cost hosts. It's just a simple fact. When your core market makes its hosting decisions based primarily on price alone you simply don't have the funds to pay all your bills, or bring in the ' big boy ' equipment, or many other things that the more expensive hosts have.

I remember the outage a few months ago, all the excuses as to why it happened and also the midnight move.

If this was in fact something that they knew about or had any control over ( other than paying their bills ) then notice would have been given to their clients. This is assuming that they were the quality ISP that every one hopes for, an ISP that really gives a crap if you are making money or not. As we can all see they either didn?t care enough to notify people, didn?t pay their bills again ( my guess ) or just couldn?t handle the networking issues that came as a result of any of the above.

No matter how they try to ' spin ' the story the simple fact is that if they were as stable ( financially or network wise ) as they should be none of these issues effecting their customers would exist. This is because they would easily be able to afford to keep the carriers running, the equipment up to date, and have provisions in place to pick up the slack when parts of their network fail that are beyond their control.

We are not the cheapest place on the block, and I am the first to tell everyone that, but our network stays up, our clients stay online, and should any part of the network fail there are resources in place to ensure little to no down time for anyone. This applies to even the most severe cases. If you want more information on how to choose a host check this out: http://www.primeinternet.com/network.html

LikeWhoa is big pimpin'

They have a NOC in Manhattan. That takes some serious bling -- and I don't see other hosts giving away a BMW at Internext... Take LikeWhoa as a whole -- look at how many projects they have going on... If LikeWhoa was short on funds I don't think my bare naked ass would be sitting right now on this kick ass oversized AdultCentro beach towel... Hehe...

If Like Whoa was short on funds, we'd get a letter 10 business days before the connection is interrupted, that's a standard procedure. And if we got a letter 10 days before, we'd do something about, we are serious about our business.

Think about it. All Like Whoa customers have been informed from an e-mail I drafted after 36 hours without any sleep...

I agree. I've seen the numbers they have been paying Verio firsthand and for them to be able to afford all that B/W they are nowhere close to broke. The folks over there also say they paid their bills. Whatever thier problems were in the last 36 hours being broke isn't one of them.

having big bills doesn't equate having lots of money.

about the paying the bills.. i just don't get how they lost connectivity so suddenly and were unable to regain it with verio unless they were shut off. if they shut off the line themselves they'd have had a new one already pre-arranged right? so it'd have to be verio. correct me if i'm wrong?

nobody is sharing their experiences. that's a bummer.

If it were planned by LW, there wouldn't be any 36 hr sleepless nights, uninformed customers and there wouldn't be any changing of reports through out the experience.

The issue to get service back up MAY have been technical, but the root cause between Verio and LW is a business --not-- a technical one. If it were Verio's fault, I am reasonably sure LW would have said so on numerous occasions and talked about all the legal action they are planning on behalf of their own, and their customers' interests.

Verio is _not_ back being their primary provider as LW said it would be, and Cogent/Yipes seem to be handling their traffic -- both providers, btw, are cheaper than Verio in the NYC market.

And as someone mentioned earlier, Yipes is the only advertising LW routes in BGP.

I am not making any statements on quality, but if any of these providers are owed cash, I am sure their attorneys' will be looking for blood.

It's funny to see you guys dogging likewhoa, when most of you don't have a clue whats going on.

We have some stuff hosted with them, it's on Verio bandwidth, and its running just fine.

It takes money to grow a hosting operation to the size they have become over the last couple years, and it takes some know how. Any issues we've ever had with them basically boiled down to slow customer service response, which hasn't happened in awhile either. Both Nick and Stan have been quick to personally answer any questions I've had in the last month, and their uptime has been great to this little blip in the road.

EVERY host, I don't care how big or how well connected they are, has problems at some point in the road, and if someone promises you 100% uptime with great mms responses they are kidding either you or themself.

Will we have future problems with them and the rest of our hosts? I'm sure we will. How they handle it after the fact is what determines how much of our money they continue to get.

I'm not a host, so I wasn't dogging anyone.

But Kim, if your stuff is on verio with likewhoa, what URL can other interested parties check out?

Thanks,

Rik

hi kimmykim. which sites do you have on verio bandwidth? i'm trying to find likewhoa via verio but i'm having no luck, only seeing it go through level3 (in and out) from a diverse set of hosts.

Rik,
Then why do you care? You are not a Like Whoa client, if they are unhappy they will address it with us. If we didn't fulfill on what we promised, and can't do anything in order to make sure that this never happens again, or credit them accordingly, then what do you want from this?

Do you really think that after years of building this in a vision I did your posts or anybody else's to attract more attention to the matter are going to do anything? Do you think _I_ will give up to do whatever it takes to make sure my clients are happy?

I don't understand the reasoning behind some people posting. My clients were informed, they were informed along the process (those who missed it - it was in the stats area). I sent a letter to every client telling them who serves their bandwidth, what happened, why and what did about it... and even WHY it took so long...

What is this with you and everybody else who just wants to see this bumped up more. Any accusation or rumor is doing nothing but wasting people's time. I dont' have a single client of mine, personally complaining to me right now, as a matter of fact, I get responses to my e-mails thanking me for being upfront.

Wake up and smell the coffee. I built this company with my team and it's here to stay. Whether you are going to add to this hiccup of problems or not, it's not changing my outlook. It's only making me work harder.

If we screwed up, we will fix it. If you can do better, then compete and take everything away from us. Our clients are provided with the best service this industry has to offer, and that's not my ego, that's our family of clients telling the NOC.

If some people are unhappy, we usually address. If they are pissed off to a point we can't do anything about, we understand. We learn and we do better next time.

That's how we function, and that's how we got where we are.

Just give up already, everybody knows what happened. Even if people didn't read GFY and they happen to be influenced by this problem we had, they already know about it. And not from you, from ME telling them about it.

You might be a nice guy, and just do this out of curiosity, but notice how you are not even a client posting here? Geez.

T,

All everyone has been hearing is how LW has been "taking care of its problems" and "if it screwed up, it will be fixed". You HAVE the opportunity here to dispell all the rumors and the technical observations, but instead use your posts to obfuscate the details and complain about posters who are your potential customers. Or at least, they were.

Did LW screw up?

---

LW is fair game because EVERYONE knows LW trolls these boards looking for customers. Any hosting thread or even mention of a host has someone from LW looking for business. If LW can't take the scrutiny, it shouldn't be prolific in its efforts to evangelize itself.

What explanations? You seem to be more affected by the problem then my clients are? Marketing has nothing to do with informing on what we screwed up about it and on why. It has to do between Like Whoa and its clients/partners.

My goal is not to satisfy your needs, but my clients'. Public image is the last thing I care about when hundreds of people experienced a problem. Routing through Cogent? Not since 3AM yesterday.

I'll market my company when I make adjustments to address on what we screwed up on. That way, when those issues are not just fixed but positively brought to our clients, I'll market it in a way that you will understand what happened. Trust me.

it's just kinda weird that nobody has been posting about their experiences, except KimmyKim, i believe (and then nothing substantial). i'd expected to hear a lot more. it's puzzling. i know when other hosts have gone down, there's been a lot more posts about 'em.

Right. And one of those hosts is yours. So you felt because our clients are properly informed in the best matter we can, they don't post, so hence that's a bad thing? I see... just another perspective I guess

It's because everybody is available round the clock, from tech support down to me for the period of this problem and answer questions as they are addressed. Weird I guess.

T,

You are doing more of the same. Complaining this isn't the right forum to be airing LW's visible problems, and then bragging about how great your support is.

If you can't reassure the interested parties about your network's stability, who cares what the support is like? Besides, when you are having a major network outage, what do you expect support to do? Go home? Everyone is working when the fire alarm is rung.

It has nothing to do with informing anybody. The most important task for us is to make sure that OUR CLIENTS are happy, then comes everything else. New clients are what we will do once we sort out what happened.

Whatever happened, Like Whoa in NO WAY is passing blame on soembody else. I've mentioned this before. Every and any problem that occurs would always be our fault.

We are just doing what it takes to make sure such never happens again. Don't worry, we take all criticism seriously and our perspective on this requires immediate attention.

...and we are doing this right now. Now next week, next month. Right this second and wouldn't post anything until we know it's fixed, not patched.

I like how everyone is typing 2 or 3 lines per paragraph. It makes it easy to read.

Thank you.

I guess this is a new policy.

You didn't seem to practice the "Its all LikeWhoa's fault" policy in October 2001 when you started this thread:

http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showth...threadid=41049

You were glad to blame Level3. Whatever happened with your discussions with Level3's legal department?

I am glad you reference how everything comes back to haunt you.

IF ALL OF THIS is just for LikeWhoa's CLIENTS ONLY, why the hell are you wasting time POSTING PUBLIC UPDATES about LikeWhoa's status?

thing is he's not really posting public updates, which is his perogative, of course. but you are right - they are rather aggressive with sales - the near-complete lack of information about the situation here is unfortunate.

Because with Level(3) there were preventive measures taken unlike in this case. It's unfortunate that you don't understand that. And it's even more unfortunate that you will never understand that none of this pertain to you. I'll venture to say that your curiosity is not even based on your previous consideration to use Like Whoa, but come from a personal vendetta against Like Whoa.
