				 | Taking the risk of repeating a lot of what was suggested here are some of my favorites: - CUBE - Cypher (underrated and a bit "vulgar" but was quite impressed with it) - Memento - Trainspotting (not mind fuck per se but think it does fit, great work with the tunes, scenery,theme,characters,etc..) - Prozac Nation (orphan but its a nice flick ) - Matchstick Man - Eternal Sunshine of Spotless Mind (Jim Carrey fits pretty well into this sort of roles) - Magnolia - Short Cuts - El Laberinto del fauno - Scanners Darkly (trippy!!!) - Gattaca (very underrated IMHO, I just love this flick) |

				 | A few others I forgot (I do hate this sort of thread that makes me dig tru the stuff I like\loved, you are always bound to miss something): - One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest - The Usual Suspects - Irreversible - Apocalypse Now (the last part is pure gold!) - 2001: A Space Odyssey (cant get any of my friends to appreciate this, I'm the only one who seems to see the greatness of this) - Blue Velvet - Blade Runner - Vanilla Sky (was told the original was better, have yet to see it though) - Papillon ok..going to STFU now as this is turning into the list of all my favorite movies (even the "non-mind-fuck ones") :X |

				 | Well I guess a couple of titles could be yet mentioned, sure you should have probably seen a lots from them but why not to try to dig for a little bit more: "Colors" (1988) - a good old school style crimi with Sean Penn and Robert Duvall "The Last Detail" (1973) - not that known but a killer Jack Nicholson performance speaking about Jack, these are a must: "Chinatown" (1974) - Polanski at his best (before he got involved with a 13 year old irresistible) "Prizzi's Honour" (1985) - I guess John Huston's last one, but a great one "Proffesion Reporter" (1975) - quite a departure, Michelangelo Antonioni work co starring Maria Schneider (known from the "Last Tango in Paris") If you wanna something a bit disturbing you may also like: "Romeo is bleeding" crimi noir with Gary Oldman, one of my all time favorite actors "The Butcher Boy" - by Neil Jordan, one of the most suggestive novels I ever read, everyone in this novel is a waste outside this young lad who slaughters the whole family of british puritans at the end "I.D." (1995) - a UK production, a cop goes undercover to a gang of Hooligans and gets consumed so much that he looses his own character and private - a great and underrated movie If you want to check something more relaxed I really did liked "Trees Lounge" (1996) a directing debut from Steve Buscemi playing a seladon drunk having affair with his drinking mate guy's 18 year daughter

				 | How bout your favourite B movies? Apart from many action flicks from the 80's I can remember those a likes like: The return of the living dead (1985) by Dan O'Bannon (the Alien creator) - funny shit The Escape from NY (1981) - very much a classic, John Carpenter and Kurt Russel at it's best The Thing (1982) - the same team that delivers The people behind the stairs (1991) - a good one by Wes Craven I also liked Dawn of the dead (1978, 2004) - even the remake is a nice one plus who cannot love the complete insanity of Peter Jackson's Bad Taste (1987) or Braindead (1992)..

				 | I like your taste in movies. Let me see what I've got in my collection that wasn't already mentioned. La Pianiste - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0254686/ - You should definitely see this if not already. Pretty much all Vincent Gallo movies, don't miss Buffalo '66 and Brown Bunny you have to be hardcore to digest Brown Bunny but its an exceptional movie. Blow up - Classic movie (must see for all movie fans) 8MM - was already mentioned but its worth mentioning it again Gloomy Sunday - this one its gonna be hard to get, but if you find it its great |

				 | I know they were mentioned before, but they deserve to be mentioned again - Bladerunner (Amazing cinematography, amazing Sci-Fi story, probably one of the best movies I've ever seen) - Children of Men (I agree with one of the previous posters, when I saw this in the cinema, and I watch around 50 new movies a year, every 5 minutes throughout the whole flick I though to myself "Oh boy thank God they still know how to make good movies" ) and here's one you probably haven't seen but might have heard of: - Death of Salesman (Volker Schlöndorff version, with Dustin Hoffman and a young John Malkovich -> http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089006 - Warning: This is not your classic hollywood movie, this script comes 1:1 from the theater stage and was adapted for TV. A drama about the American dream, schizophrenia, dementia, depression and a false reality.)

The movie would be a very nice potraial of pre - nazi and nazi era, needless to say I got incredibly annoyed by the main character and his schreeking so whoever is allergic to kids should rather miss this piece of art.

				 | Wow, what a great fucking thread. Almost all of the on-topic movies I can think of are already listed. A couple comments: I just saw The Lives of Others and was pleasantly surprised. Someone said they heard Vanilla Sky's original Open Your Eyes (Spain) was better. I'd say they are about the same, but I'm leaning towards Vanilla sky. The Machinist blew me away. I was physically creeped out during it, and it's the only movie in the last 5-7 years that's done that to me. Some new additions: Following - Christopher Nolan's movie two years before Memento. U-Turn - A great Oliver Stone movie that slipped through the cracks. Inland Empire - David Lynch's latest movie (fuck the haters). He made this movie over several years by writing short stories as they came to him and filmed them on-the-fly with DV cameras, with no intention of making a feature length film. The only Lynch film the studios couldn't interfere with. Devil's Advocate - Great movie, even if you hate Keanu. Secret Window - Kind of formulaic these days, but Johnny Depp rocks. Identity - John Cusack's best since Gross Pointe Blank (someone already mentioned the new 1408, which was great) The Salton Sea - A very underrated Val Kilmer movie. Off topic (keep in mind, I'm trying to avoid movies already listed): A few people have mentioned WWII movies, and no one brought up Downfall?! That's easily my favorite WWII movie ever. Great foreign movies: City of God (Brazil) Amores Perros (Mexico) Good Bye, Lenin! (Germany) Recent favorites: 300 The Departed Smokin' Aces The Fountain (by the director of Pi/Requiem) Pure awesomeness: V for Vendetta Batman Begins Lord of War Natural Born Killers Other great movies: Punch Drunk Love Frailty Minority Report Jarhead The People Vs Larry Flynt
