I want to know who here owns a torrent site, or uses spyware.

If you own a torrent site and own other sites I want to make sure to know what those other sites are so I don't do business with you in any way.

All the people who prey on this industry should have it one way or the other. Either you want to fuck us or work with us. Those people who are fucking us should be cut off by the rest of us in any and all ways possible.

The industry drew a line in the sand for CP, XXX, and Acacia, I don't see why we can't seperate ourselves out for this. You are either on the "fucking the industry" side or not. You can't play both sides the fence.

If these people don't want to own up to it, post names. Please provide proof though if you do. And don't name idiots like StickFingers who defend it, but the real people who are fucking us.

I use spyware, but only as secondary option if the user doesnt buy anything then I just take what I was supposed to be paid for the sale instead directly from their checking/CC account, I still think it is OK though, it is still cheaper than what they would have paid for the movies and software when they downloaded it from my torret sites

Yeah, it has been pretty clear. Over the weekend a few threads were started to attack some of the people exposing the issues of torrents and tubes, which is classic. These people don't realize how much the stand out.

Sponsors would be good to take note. If these people are willing to run torrent sites or get traffic from them, you want to bet how quickly they would card you or fuck you over for $10?

If I had the means to build a massive site of community-driven content, stolen or not, and make bank off that via advertising; advertising that not only paid my bandwidth bill but put a nice chunk of change in my pocket... shit. I'd do that in a second.

Because companies would pay huge for the "illegal vids" I hosted for them, plus the bandwidth they'd save, because I'd pay for that. The revenue split; shit. Cut a deal like you would for a couple of those "porn review sites"; give me a better listing rank, I'll give you a better affiliate split... it's all among "partners".

Oh, but not only would I get to offer a sponsor a "fringe" customer, I could sell prime advertisement spots. What? You don't want sponsor-X teen videos showing next to such keyword, no worries. Bid on the words you want and they'd show up in the system "above" the sponsor you're outbidding.

Even better, I'd trojan horse the included scripts I got everyone to include on their own website. If it was a SWF include, I'd have been smart enough to make sure the SWF file they're including was a dummy movie that I could push anything to, if I so chose. If it was a JS file / IFrame snippet, same thing; make sure it's not pulling any cross-browser bullshit, but push a paid ad here and there and then push to the client browser what I wanted.

If one only had the time.....

For a start, why don't content producers work with the torrents? Contents' going to get ripped regardless of what anyone thinks; at least an affiliate ID in the filename can help generate some revenue for a while; can't it?

even with an affiliate id in the video (not sure how that would work anyway) who buys when they get the whole thing for free. We talk about TGP traffic being bad. thats 30 second videos and the traffic converts like crap. Also its not like you can find stuff easy on TGPS, like all the 30 second vids from bangbus for example. But on a torrent you can type in bangbus and get full lenght videos, pretty much all of them.

So you think TGP traffic is bad, torrent traffic to porn sites would be 100x worse. If you are a porn site, you cant make money from it. For those of you who will say " innovate" , don't bother unless you tell us how to innovate. Untill someone says how porn sites can make money from torrents I will continue to believe there is NO way to do this.

How many years and how many people been trying to think of a way and no one has found one. But some dumb ass will say " innovative, adapt,etc.." like he knows the answer and the rest of us are just stupid for not knowing it.

Torrents provide a means for people to trade (distribute) stolen content.
Torrents sell ad space to make money.
Companies that are not affected by the stolen content being given away for free (dating, cams, toys, adbrite - traffic brokers) buy ad space.
Torrent becomes popular from more and more people looking to get it for free, more traffic they get the more ad displayes, the more they charge for advertising.

Remove the people buying ads (traffic) from them, the site wouldn't be able to pay for itself.

I have no answers to your questions. I'm 1. wondering how torrents make money and 2. am just following on the other bandwagon that it's not necessarily the torrent site's fault; well, yea, they're making money off stolen content and shit, but how do they pay their bills? Hasn't that been the main factor in any discussion against any type of theft: you kill the thieving'bastard's ability to generate revenue, you kill the thieving bastards.

One, I'm confident the general public doesn't want DRM and that's fine. Yet, there's quit a few programs out there using basic authentication to protect a member's area; that shit's as outdated as the blink tag.

The internet's a digital distribution system. Security is a myth, especially when you deal with some horny, drunk person trying to whip out a card in a process that takes the least clicks possible to get it swiped and some teenager who can rip poorly protected content from a member section in minutes and then sell that drunk fucker on it in a banner ad, on the same join page, and make 40% rev-share from the sponsor drunk guy was originally going to join from. (sorry it that made no sense).

But anyway. This business feeds on its own customer base, and how I see it, circle-jerks that same customer base and eventually sends it to the pasture of torrents / napster / whatever. In regard to torrents, since it's the conversation at hand these days, there has to be a way to "swindle" money. 100,000,000 pictures at PornoCityLovePorn.com can't be wrong, right?

Apologies... guess I was writing mine and posted right after yours. I do dig this conversation, and I honestly think the more people talk through it, there can be a solution found; which is I why I like your threads sometimes. It's just unfortunate, in my opinion, that most people reading these threads are going "fuck yea, so that's how I make a quick buck."

Sadly, in the end, though, the above mentality, I think, is how this industry runs itself. And amazingly, it continues to be a bleeding edge in that regard. Good for it and all who continue to thrive, therein.

Are you saying this sites like this: http://www.dafont.com/ use stolen fonts?

As you can see it has "free", "donationware", "free for personal use" and "paid" fonts on that site. I'll be 100% honest, I use only the free ones from that site (and that's the only site I use to download fonts), but I never thought they were stolen. Is this an example of a site that uses stolen fonts?

There is a HUGE freeware/shareware font community. One of the biggest font sites in existence DaFont.com is completely legit and used by millions of people.
