In your country, do they show CRIME SUSPECTS on TV, *AGAINST THEIR WILL*?

Just a thought I had recently...

It's pretty common here to see a crime suspect (rape, murder... anything like that) on the news, while he's sitting inside court or being led by policemen.

Most of the time the suspect uses his coat or shirt to cover his face so people won't recognize him at home.

Is this a common sight where you live, or is there a different policy, e.g: 'it's illegal to film a suspect'?

Just wondering, since it's a little embarrassing to watch really. I mean, yeah... this guy probably commited some serious crimes, but still... why film him against his will? plus, sometimes the crimes are not as serious as rape or murder...

Besides, If you do film him already, what's the point in allowing him to cover up his face?

What do you think about this?

I don't get it.

In my opinion, them not being guilty IS the main reason NOT to film them.

Obviously showing their face to the public would give them a bad reputation, and if they're innocent that's very wrong.

Because they not only film them for the news... they also show them getting arrested and chased down in a reality show

So you wouldn't mind being shown on TV as a rape suspect as long as you were innocent?

Innocent or not, your reputation would still take a nose dive... Michael Jackson and OJ Simpson were not found guilty, you don't think the TV coverage of their trials harmed their reputations at all?

Yes.. It is always against their will, nobody would want their faces shown on tv whether you are guilty or not..
