How I've read the thread, his reactions were just that "reactions"... reactions to another party. You call him a "kid" because he posted he was 19. However, his posts, in my opinion, are pretty much inline with what any other person of any age, status or time spent in this industry would say. I won't throw down the three-letter "b" word, but it's really what's it's all about.

Wrong, on all levels. Sorry.

How a professional person of any character reacts is vastly different than the kids of the world like this kid. And that's not the only reason he's a kid, or because he's 19, but also because I'm 44, and because when faced with an accuser whose accusations are pretty much right, a professional admits his mistakes (of which this kid made many), where as a kid throws an arrogant defiant tantrum.

Did you take a good look at his site? There's nothing there that can be or even should be defended.

He's arrogant.
He's mouthy
He has a lot to learn not only about business but about life, obviously
He has potential but is putting it to the wrong use
And he is headed for a rude awakening.

If you can't thrive in this business and make a successful business the honest way then you get what you deserve, that's something I've never waivered from since day one.

He should put his talent to better use.

it was 20k about an hour ago. I didn't realize Steve's site did that well for you. Guess not anymore hey?

And for the record dude, just because you aren't directly hosting content doesn't mean you can't find yourself in a whole world of trouble over this.
Mark my words.

Let me think about it for a second.... um, no.

Says alot about you after all this to ask me to pay you $70. :2 cents:

doesnt matter if you are hosting the content or not, you are linking to it.

u cant detect sarcasm for the second time..

and secondly.. im doing nothing illegal. Maybe immoral to some. but from a legal standpoint i am doing just fine. Seriously, my site isnt that bad. I get traffic and i send it to programs, i make lots of money.

What i have said in this thread has been a RESPONSE. I have been provoked each time and i am defending myself. This thread says more about steve then me because he choose to conduct his business in a public forum. Liike you all said, i am just a kid. He is a grown man having a hissy fit on a public forum.

I have been a member of his program for maybe a month now, he knew my site, there was nothing stopping him contacting me, doing the changes and both of us to start making money. This was setup, he wanted to try and make a point. If he contacted me, i would have made everything right but he didnt. He tried to make me look bad, he probably did.

You make think i have no morals and am a content thief but thats truely not the case. I want to make money by sending program owners sales. Who cares if im pasting a 10minute long video i found on an embed tube site. If it makes everyone money, does it really matter? And if u have a problem. Atleast contact me privately and something can be worked out.

i'm siding with squizzel here. Steve you're acting like a real asshole btw. If you were going to actually DO ANYTHING you should have just done it. Flexing nuts on a webmaster board is lame :/

Bravo...I think this statement just took your DMCA protection away. Have fun Steve, let me know if you need anything.

I don't think he was claiming protection under DMCA.

He was notifying Steve that in accordance with DMCA he would remove the content if officially asked.

darnit 07-25-2007 11:58 PM

We all know that these sites and the "2.0" user generated revolution of the web are a huge challenge to many of us. Information wants to be free right?

That said playing whack a mole with the operators of these sites is futile and very reminiscent of the RIAA's approach to file sharing.

It seems to me a leader in this industry would find a way to monetize this traffic and use it as an effective promotional tool vs. the knee jerk "i'm going to sue them into oblivion" reaction that has been so terribly ineffective.

Lets face it - the genie is out of the bottle with our younger customers, the question now is whats next?

I have no dog in this fight however with all the talk about rapidshare, bit torrent, p2p etc it seems that cooperation and development of effective sales tools that work in this environment is the right approach. Not just making a bunch of lawyers car payments - which helps no one.

:2 cents:

Tell any 18 year old kid you sell accounts to porn sites, and they kind of giggle like... why would people pay for what's free?

That is EXACTLY your problem my friend.. this does _NOT FALL UNDER DCMA_ ... read up on the law!

_YOU_ posted the content, _YOU_ picked the content, _YOU_ selected it... that makes you responsible and he can very much sue you.

Nathan 07-26-2007 12:13 AM

Oh and I forgot to say, have fun Steve :)

Where is the point of notifying Steve if he can do this "in accordance with DMCA" all day long, he is not PROTECTED by DMCA though.. so who cares if he would remove the content _HE_ clearly stated he added himself.

No it doesn't genius. The content was already uploaded to another source, and he posted links to it on his board. The most these idiots can do is waste money and try and tie him up in court, but the fact tht he is in Amsterdam means they can only bend over, spread their cheeks, and take it in the ass. Please don't assume you have a fucking clue how this works until you have been through one of these cases, which i recently have. You are talking out your ass and speculating. He can simply ignore whatever legal action is taken and go on with his life.

Just because you like to sue people dosn't mean you know dick about the law. As long as he isn't hosting the content you can't do shit. You can waste money and have your attorneys blow smoke up your ass but in the end all you will have is a stack of attorney bills. If you don't believe me try it and see where that gets you.

squizzel 07-26-2007 12:19 AM

i am seeking legal advice now and if i find out that it is illegal then they will all go. if it is not they will all stay.

If he could do anything he would've already. The fact that he sat on here and threatened shows that he knew he had dick and was so pissed he had to flex his nuts. I know 100 sites off the top of my head that have links to his content, and he can't do shit. The funny thing is I was an affiliate of his once, and maybe you should ask him about his own bullshit practices.

DMCA only applies to where the content is hosted and it is not on his server. Good luck getting the megarotics of the world to listen to you wannabe lawyers.

He does not just link to them

http://www.nastyboards.com/forums/t2...apartment.html

He embeds the videos... BIG difference. It does not matter where it is hosted, its ON his site, and its SELECTED by him, he can not claim that its user submitted content, thus he is not protected.

And on top of that, the least he needs is 2257 docs...

Although we will have to see what the DOJ says to some comments before we are sure of that I guess...

Nathan 07-26-2007 12:28 AM

Ahh, Amsterdam, didn't see that, how do you know? 2257 of course does not apply then... the rest is still a problem, even in the Netherlands.
